I started LT at the end of February and had 8 stone to lose which seemed so daunting, if not impossible. It isn't and the time has flown by. I've now lost 6 stone so another 2 seems like a walk in the park. If you're just starting your journey, I know how hard it is with such a mountain to climb but try not to look up, just keep looking back at what you have achieved so far. You won't believe this but, if I was given the choice of losing it magically overnight or the time it's actually taken me to get this far, I would choose to lose it the way I have. Every half stone lost has seemed a small miracle to me and I see changes every day which still thrill me. I'm most proud of staying 100% all the way through because every time I stay strong and "stick with the program" I feel invincible! For me, that feeling of strength and control is even better than all the lovely new clothes. Hang in there, guys!

wow jessie!! Its people like you that make doing this seem all the worth while. You are brilliant and deserve so much credit for what you have achieved. I have four stone to lose - and I cant wish it away fast enough - but day three and its hard - when i read your posts makes me think - I CAN DO and it must get easier. Do you get used to not eating then? I am hoping the further along I go, the more I will be determined not to break the diet. How did you manage and for so long. I intend to stay 100% because I cant do it any other way - its all or nothing for me - I have that kind of addictive personality unfortunately.

You are truly amazing!!! well done.

Jessie you are amazing!! Your story is what i needed to hear. I'm at the end of day3 And feel horrible. The cravings are sinking in and the metal taste in my mouth is horrible. Does the taste go or do you get used to it? Can you use mouth wash?! I'm brushing my teeth at least 4 times today. Xx

Thanks guys! Sorry I haven't replied sooner but have been on the beach!

Ann-Marie - yes you do get used to not eating. I spent my first week feeling very sorry for myself but was prepared for that. Like you I have an addictive personality so I know where you're coming from! The time has flown by - especially if you keep busy.

Candyloss - I love your "best frenemy" remark! Every time you face a craving and survive without caving in you will feel stronger and it's SUCH a great feeling.

Skinnymam - your first weigh-in is amazing, especially after such a hard week. It makes it all worthwhile! You will definitely achieve your first mini-goal by losing 2 stone by your son's first birthday. Good luck, hun!

Allysweetcheeks - I use Listerine mouthwash every now and then plus Nu-Phar breath strips which are great. Mind you, when I get that metallic taste I say to myself - lovely fat-burning ketones!

How did you resist foodlalcohol at social events Jessie? I'm Nigerian and we have a culture of turning any gathering of 3 or more people into a party....massive pots of food and booze everywhere...and people will not leave you alone....in fact they will be offended if you don't eat. i also think i would be a bit embarassed to tell them i am on a diet....

Hi Kitibom. That is a good suggestion from Deezer and it works well for a lot of people but, because I had such a lot to lose, I couldn't last 8 days without socialising let alone 8 months! Like you, here in Cornwall we love our food and party life. My family and friends also enjoy the good life but I decided early on that I would have to let them know about the diet. I talked it over with them when I started and said that I really needed their help and support to keep on track because my health was so bad and they have been brilliant! I made sure that they wouldn't feel restricted when we're out and they should still have whatever they wanted. To make them happy, I have a good sniff of their food before they eat it and tell them that's all I needed! I can still dance all night quite happily just on water. Lately, I've been telling myself ... only another 7 weeks and you'll be able to have a barbecued steak. Yay!

Hi Jesse, You have done so well you are an inspiration. Are you concerned about keeping the weight off? Do you have any plans for when you reach your goal. I hope this doesn't sound negative I'm just interested in other peoples plans for life after LT

Hi Carol. No, I don't think that's negative at all just sensible and realistic. It's been my biggest concern all the way through which is why I've been reading so much. Having lost 7.5 stone before on WW and put it all back on, I don't want to make that mistake again! I don't think you can blame any diet, it's the way you behave after it that matters. If we think we can go back to eating whatever we like, we're kidding ourselves!

The way I plan to maintain is on The Harcombe Diet. I've read everything Zoe Harcombe has written now and think she is just brilliant! She talks so much sense and it's really struck a chord with me. I have been so worried about refeeding and maintenance that I have written out my menus for the first ten weeks! That will sound crazy to others but it has made me feel much safer, satisfied and ready for the future so sod what anybody else says. It's my life after all! I am due to finish LT in 7 weeks and I'm now really positive and looking forward to the next stage. Bring it on! :D

Jessie that is a really good idea to have you Menus sorted for a when you finish. Has your pharmacy helped you with them?! I think it's something that should do cause i find it easier to stick to. Ive still along way to go, would like to lose 5 stone on 100% and I'm only on day 12. I've really struggled this week with food tho, I have had to stop myself on a few occasions having a nibble. I thought it would have been easy by this point. X

    Hi Ally,
Just thought I'd say I'm on day 25 and I still find myself wanting a nibble! Yesterday I was in a bit of a grumpy mood for some reason and all day I was battling with cravings. I realised that normally, those are the days when all I want to do is comfort-eat...

Don't worry too much, though - you've stopped yourself and that's the (incredibly) important point.

I would still say this diet is easy (certainly far easier than I ever imagined!) but it was never going to be no effort at all...

Actually I think it's good training for when we do start eating again - every time you want a nibble and stop yourself, remember how strong you are being and imagine yourself still being able to hold back in the future.

Be proud of yourself every single time...:)
