Unexpected benefits

Ok, it makes sense that eating healthier has lots of good effects but I didn't really think about that when I started. However, I'm pleasantly surprised by them now. Even without the weight loss, it makes SW a great option! Here are the main improvements I've found:

Improved mood - been on anti depressants for three years but I'm definitely feeling happier now.

Better sleep - used to feel I needed a drink to drop off, not now, which leads to...

Less alcohol consumption - writing down the syns in drink made me see that I was drinking way too much

Improved skin & hair - very noticeable, especially skin around my eyes

Stronger nails - must be all the yoghurts and hexa that's giving me more calcium

More energy - actually feel like moving more, used to avoid any sort of activity. My husband is enjoying this aspect too ;-)

Just thought I'd compile a list for anyone out there who's thinking of starting. Personally, I'm loving having decent nails the most!

I know what you mean! I've been doing SW for just under 2 weeks and I have loads more energy, hardly drinking any coffee now and no more sugar free red bulls! My hair is noticeably shinier and my skin is much clearer, which are all lovely side effects! My mood is better also, although I don't like to admit that I could be a mardy cow before.. :)

The sleep thing is the biggest difference for me !

Great list so far, I think for me one of the greatest benefits is feeling in control of what I eat rather than letting the food control me.

Definitely my sleep has hugely improved & my skin, hair & nails are looking great; for me I feel so much happier to see people, I didn't realise it at the time but I did everything I could to avoid socialising, so silly!

im finding it really hard to sleep, have more energy so nodding off is a nightmare.

I can go longer on the allotment without even being flustered - did 2 hours of straight, high paced digging today with a tiny break, would never have been able to do that before. Apart from that though I haven't had anything else, mind you I have dreadlocks and I bite my nails off so I wouldn't have noticed those two bits hahaha. I am sure as I get thinner maybe I will notice but I'm not the type to own or even look in a mirror, so I am waiting for other people to tell me I look different :)

My eczema cleared up and I no longer need my asthma inhaler. Quitting smoking helped with the asthma bit but I felt confident that by doing slimming world and quitting smoking at the same time I could keep an eye on my weight this time and I carried losing instead of gaining.

Now down to only 5 tables a day instead of 12! Not running out of breath, I can now ride my bike for over 2 hours without running out of breath. my blood pressure is normal, I was a T2 diabetic, my cholesterol is now normal & I'm almost 7 st lighter.......

Cooking proper meals means my kitchen is always spotless. As I'm using it properly I'm cleaning it more. Instead of leaving the pizza box on top of the unused hob!

For me its not having that 'stuffed' feeling after a meal, i now listen to my body, and when im full i stop eating, i actually leave food on my plate and not snaffle it all just because its there!
