I started a VLCD 3 weeks ago (not always sticking to it as I should!) and last weekend I had all the signs I was ovulating, pains etc but my temp never went up to confirm ov so could the VLCD have affected this even though I havent always been sticking to it or could not sticking to it have made it worse!?

Being in ketosis should usually lower your temperature so your benchmark has probably shifted. Maybe that explains it. It seems VLCDs can work both ways for ovulation. Personally I'm wildly irregular usually but suddenly get a perfect 28 day cycle when I'm on a VLCD or low-carb. But some people find it stops their periods. Different bodies sometimes react in different ways. Which VLCD are you doing?

I don't think it interferes with ovulation, more the period side of it...might be wrong...some people don't have periods on vlcds, it is a well documented side effect...the body tries to conserve as much energy as it can when one is trying to lose weight, and periods expend lots of energy I presume, so the body halts the process in some women. That may or not be the correct theory, but it may also be a hormonal balance thing too, dieting can upset the balance and put the hormones out of kilter to alter menses and such...in men it drops the levels of testosterone, especially if lower in fat...
