my machine, caught fire and was smoking just over a week ago. It is insured and they came and said it needed some specific part.
They came today to fix it and they have basically lifted up the shell and put completly new insides in it.
i dont understand it, why not just give us a new machine, though i'm not complaining as it is a new machine really.

I guess it must have been cheaper for them to repair rather than replace.
Plus, with repairing you/they don't end up with a washing machine rotting away on some landfill site for years!

Good job you had it insured, I never bother!!

Sometimes its better to get a repair done as when my machine which was almost new needed repairing I discovered in the small print of the insurance documents that if a machine was replaced instead of repaired then the "new" machine would no longer be insured. I had to get a brand new drum in my machine and then a year on it needed a new hose. Unfortunately for me I have to take out insurance on washing machines because I go through them like nobody's business. Been in this house 8 years and have had 3 washing machines already lol.
