Week 4 & the voices are back.

Hi all,

I am coming to the end of week 4 and I am starting to get a craving for food, beer and cigarettes.

I am due for my weigh in tomorrow and if it goes as planned, next week should see me moving up to the next level ( my CDC terminology). I have lost a stone and a half and I reakon I have about another stone to lose.

The problem is the last few days I have found it really hard to keep my mind off eating drinking and even smoking. I gave up smoking at Christmas, so I find it wierd that it is starting to eat away at me now. I am having a few mates round tonight for a game of poker and I was wondering if it would really be so bad to have a couple of beers?

I know it will knock me out of ketosis and I will put on a bit of weight. But I really feel the need for a blow-out.

I personally have stuck 100% but people who fall off the wagon always say its harder to restart. Try and keep yourself busy do anything but give in. You CAN do this

I managed to sit there all night ddrinking water while my friends knocked back bottle after bottle of beer.

We normally order in a take away which is normally an Indian or a pizza half way through the night, which I wasnt looking forward to at all. The time came when they asked what we were having and I just took their orders, and ordered them all pizzas and side orders(they really pigged out).It smelled very very nice, but I just sat in the other room while they tucked in.

Thanks for your words of wisdom, I feel great today for not giving in.

Well done. It's times like that that this diet is SO testing. Hubby and I have been in social situations and watched others tucking into their buffet food...other times we've sneaked off and had our CDbars while others ate. You do really feel proud of yourself afterwards and quite rightly so.. Where does all this willpower come from with this diet??....I never had it before anyway!

Well done!

Tx

Phew MrB, that was a close one!

Well done for sticking to the programme. How do you feel now about staying strong when under so much personal pressure to give in? What about next time?

My LLC advised us to write a 'pro' and 'con' list when a situation arose where we thought we may be tempted to eat.

We divided the page into four squares.

The top two squares were the 'pros' of eating and 'cons' of eating, the bottom two squares were the 'pros' of not eating and the 'cons' of not eating. Then we'd fill 'em in honestly. It was fascinating stuff.

Try it yourself next time you are feeling under pressure.

Thanks :)

I have tried dieting before and just given up too easily. I think the reason people have more will power with this diet is because if you do cheat, you'll not only put on a few pounds but you'll knock yourself out of the fat burning state of ketosis. I was really determined at the start of the diet too as I was sick of feeling the way I did.

Also I think that the dramatic results you see in the first few weeks does give you the will power needed.

That's a good idea Amanda, I might give that a go if I end up in the same situation. I have avoided going to the pub etc where I would normally socialise with my friends, but I was so bloddy bored staying in I had to have our regular poker night to keep me sane.

It felt great staying strong and I don't think I'll have any problems doing so again. (fingers crossed) To be fair, my friends didn't pressure me to eat and drink, but they did offer me pizza as they felt guilty eating while I couldn't. It was me myself that was contemplating having a few beers before anyone had got here as I had a craving.

It was an eye opener sitting and watching them getting drunker as we played. The drunker they got, the more hands I won :d.

The scales would of told a very different story today if I would have given in.

well done for staying away from the alcohol!! trust me its not good...iv done it and not only does the alcohol go staright to your head right away but i had one of the worst hangovers and seein as i was hungover i was craving everything and just cudnt stick to the diet the next day... so gettin back on track is very difficult..and i am still doing it iv been jummpin on and off the wagon for a couple of weeks now its gettin a bit frustrating! but 2mro is another day and another go at restarting!!!
well done again!!
Hope you all had a good weekend!!

Oh boy, I've been on a few nights out too, and watching my friends antics is a real eye-opener! Was I really like that!?!?!?!

WELL DONE! You did a grand job of resisting temptation.

Four weeks is the longest period of no-cheat SS-ing I've ever managed. First time around it didn't seem as challenging as it has, lately. I get so HUNGRY, now.

Others say the same thing. Strange, isn't it?

Well Done Mr B, I gave up the fags July 05 and out of the blue 12 months later I started to like the idea of it all again, but I noticed that if was just for a few seconds, not like it was when I first finished. So I know that it wasn't a true craving.

You were brilliant and you showed fantastic will power, so well done you give yourself a big pat on the back.

xx
