Weighing meat and fish

When weighing meat and fish do you measure the amount you're going to eat before or after you cook it?
 
I always used the amount before cooking, right or wrong. lol
 
Oh ok, if it's too heavy like more than 4 oz, would you cut the meat until it weighs that amount?
 
It really depends how much over it is.

If it's a 2-3 oz over then yes I would, or I'd just half it for another time.

If it's something and nothing over, then I'd leave it, otherwise, you end up with an offcut that's not worth cooking! :)
