What can I make with root vegetables?

I bought a root veg pack from the supermarket today, though I've no idea what to do with it! It has a few carrots, a swede, a parsnip and a small white onion. I have vegetable stock and limited herbs and spices so I could make a soup, does anyone else have any other ideas?

If possible please suggest vegetarian idea's - though any meat/poultry idea's could help others.

I made this last night which you could use your root vegetables for. It was delicious. Also if you go onto the slimming world website and type in an ingredient it will bring up recipes. There is a spicy root vegetable soup I saw on there also

You could cut it all into cubes and roast with garlic and herbs, then add it to some couscous or savoury rice

Definately soup or a kind of pie or roast them.
