What do u do?

When u get asked out for dinner etc? Just say no?

This is the bit Im going to find, eating out, socialing etc was becoming a big part of my life running up to Christmas, now I feel like we cant go any where! I dont find Dukan very 'going out' friendly, especially on PP days, even going out for the day and not being able to have lunch some where!

I dont just want to have 'a day off' because I dont want to put back on anything i have lost already but at the same time why should i be the boring one that says no!

I generally plan my PV days for when I have something on. When out I generally go for Steak, chicken or fish with veg / chicken salad (no dressing) - if out for breakfast I order poached eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms.

Two points:

1.) Its not a life time ban on socialising - I am willing to postpone a few invitations in cruise because I know that I'll be able to enjoy them to the full in consolidation and stabilisation.

2.)It is possible to eat out without huge difficulty in cruise as long as you schedule a.) Schedule a PV day and b.) can steer people towards a suitable restaurants. Steak and salad, grilled fish with vegetables, shellfish, tandoori, sashimi, roast chicken, vegetable soup.

I think - as long as you can

Dont say No it is adaptable - I have have been out for meals throughout the past 26 weeks I just adapt - last night e.g. I had the best choice for Dukan and asked for extra veg. My husband gets what I dont want and he gives me what I do want.
Im lucky my friends adapt with me too :)

Agree with all of the above. If I am going out I always do a PV day and take my own salad dressing and have meat and salad or fish and veg avoiding the potatoes etc. If it comes with a sauce I will extract the meat from it and try to avoid having a big amount of it and so far doing this means that I have consistently lost weight in the 19 weeks I have been on the diet. Of course there have been times when I want to devour the starter bread and butter or have the pudding but for the most part I have enjoyed what I have eaten and felt satisfied. Sometimes I take a sneaky muffin in my bag to have in case a need something sweet to round the meal off. Everything is achievable on dukan it just takes and bit more planning and a certain amount of strong will!!! x

I 100% agree with the first post !
I actually LOVED the dukan diet when I first started, I lost 7lb in my first week and recommended it to absolutely everyone!
However I found after one day of coming off the diet I piled pounds on instantly!

I felt I couldn't go out cause I was limited to meat fish eggs etc.
I came away from dukan diet and started slimming world.
Honestly you wouldn't look back if you gave it a week. There is nothing you can't have which makes going out so much easier not having to worry all the time about what u can and what you can't have honestly I would recommend everyone to at least give it a try. I lost 7lb this week on my first week of slimming world which is what I did on dukan but with dukan I deprived myself of everything!
I honestly with slimming world do not feel like I'm on a diet whatsoever ! Sorry to bring a downer on dukan but I think SW is 1 million times better !!
Good luck everyone :)

I let friends know in advance I won't be drinking so there's not a big deal made of it on the night. So far I've "had" to have steak...such a hardship!! annoying when it comes with everything you can't have- easier on PV but managed it on attack!! Too many folk have January birthdays...the cake is the worst temptation!

Is the whole point not that you don't "come off" dukan- you adapt your eating habits to be nearly "normal" with one pp day!

That's where you went wrong with Dukan. The Dukan diet needs to be followed correctly in order for it to work. I have followed each of the stages and have been at my goal weight for 5 months now. I have had holidays and Christmas in that time and although I have put on a couple of pounds it always comes straight off once I've done my protein day. I think you'll probably find as soon as you stop doing Slimming world the same thing will happen again if you don't change your eating habits.

I followed the diet for 2 weeks.
I went on holiday so broken the diet and then went back back on soon as I got home in the first week of doing it again from fresh I lost my 7lb again second week I lost nothing and 3rd week I lost nothing.
I started using the dukan diet pills on the cruise phase which clearly never worked!
I was doing 2 hours at the gym most days and still by the 3rd week nothing had budged ! So that's when I left and straight onto SW.
I just find it so more easier than dukan I can have whatever i want obviously within reason and as long as I syn it !
But other than that I just find It million times more easier

Everybody is different but I've heard a few people say about dukan once you come off the pounds pile on.
As it happened with me.
Yeah I know what you mean about slimming world with it being easier to slip back but in all honesty the only thing I absolutely loved before dieting was crisps! So on dukan I had to cut them out and I found it really hard to keep away from them, where as slimming world I can have a bag as long as its In my syns.
I don't think I'd ever go back on the dukan now, it's quite an expensive diet too!

Jadelouise i'm glad you have found a diet that works for you.

There is no need to be so rude and unsupportive to people on the DUKAN forum who are working hard at the diet to make your point.

We all want to lose weight and we'll all do it differently, please respect our choices and I'm sure you'll find lots of support on the SW forums.

Many ways to Rome and all that - done all kinds of diets and they all work if you stick to them but some will suit you better than others. Good luck to everyone - we all know what it's like to have a weight problem, in that respect we are ALL in the same boat. x

Rude is a bit extreme don't you think? It's called an opinion and sharing my experience on the dukan diet! Not been unsupportive in any way what so ever if u read what I wrote you would see I actually put GOOD LUCK!
Somebody wrote about not social eating so I replied to it about how SW you could basically eat whatever you like so it's easier.
You've seriously looked into it way too much and really had no reason to write that I was rude and unsupportive when I was no such thing!

You are entitled to your opinion, and entitled to express it.

I am entitled to my opinion, and entitled to express it.

And my opinion is that your behaviour is rude.

And at least I didn't go to the SW board to express it.

Wish i never asked now

Don't - it was a perfectly sensible question, and one most of us face regularly.

The truth is

- if we could lose weight eating the way we are used to eating we wouldn't need to lose weight at all -

so there are always going to difficult adjustments, whatever weightloss strategy we chose to follow.

To put it more politely than the poster above - Dukan is not a magic wand, it's just a weightloss strategy like many others, one f which may better suits an individual's needs and lifestyle better.
