What do u do?

The first 7 days loss on Dukan is mostly water, as the dieters metabolism shifts into ketosis / fat-burning. Real weight-loss starts in cruise.

So of course, if you stop before a diet has actually even started you will return to your start weight days later.

I am actually laughing because I've shown several people what I wrote and it isn't rude in the slightest. I wasn't talking to you or any other person who has got there selves involved I was talking to the person who wrote the comment in the first place as she/he mentioned about socialising foods etc.
If they told me what I said was rude then I would apologise to her/him because the post was for them to read and my experience of the dukan just giving them a little food for thought.
It's rude what you've just said to me about giving up on the diet before it even started !
Do not judge me unless you've walked a mile in my shoes ! EVERYONE At some point starts dieting but gives up if you didn't you wouldn't be normal.

I'm not replying to these posts anymore as its actually been took to far!
The person who wrote the actual post I'm sorry if You felt I was rude etc but honestly I was just telling you my experience... But people had to look into it way to much
Sorry again if it offended you & all the best on your diet x

Question to Dukan Board: Could you tell me how I combine my dukan diet with the need to socialise?

Supportive answer: It can be tough - here are some solutions that have worked in the past without doing too much damage to the diet.

Unsupportive answer: Give up like I did the first time it got inconvenient!

Atropos you have summed that up beautifully, why on earth would someone from the Slimming World forum comment on the Dukan Diet anyway, it would be like one of us going over there and saying stop doing Slimming World cos it doesn't work:sigh:

here here atropos :happy096::happy096::happy096:

having done slimming world in the past its far too easy to cheat & fall off the wagon so I prefer Dukan and its strictness & I eat out every weekend normally. Eating steak and veg is such a hardship ;) I find it much easier to get a dukan friendly meal on a menu with a couple of slight changes that most restraunts are more than happy to oblige with than trying to guess syn values on my plate

LOL !

O dear! knickers well & truly knotted!

In response to the original question, it can be tricky to eat out but its not impossible and I'm sure most of us here have done so quite successfully without breaking the diet irrovocably. If its with close friends, hopefully they know you are dieting and will be sympathetic: I went on a picnic in the summer with friends, so I just made sure I took stuff I could eat and had little bits of their offerings so as to be polite & sociable. They actually quite liked my stuff too!

In restaurants, I usually just go for the plain steak, fish or chicken, and ask the waiter to go easy on the sauces. If it comes with fries - which I have to say I find really, really tempting - I have one or two and then pass them around for general consumption. Although I do confess I had moules frites on my birthday....je ne regrette rien!

If I know that there will be very little I can eat, I have something protein rich before I go and then I won't be tempted too much.

This way I've managed to go out as much as I would normally, and still kept more or less within Dukan rules. The only really tricky bit was over Xmas when we were away from home for 3 weeks.

I would be the first to acknowledge that this diet is not for everyone and it requires a degree of committment and open mindedness for it to succeed long term. But I'm happy that its working for me, and equally happy that I can try to offer help to others on the same path.

I hope the visitor from SW is happy with her present choice (although one does wonder why he/she lurks around Dukan if so?!) and more importantly for her sake, is sucessful with it.

I had this dilemma this week - my boss's birthday lunch AND my auntie's 60th dinner in my first week of cruise :sigh:

I suggested a great steakhouse for the lunch which made it easier to find a more dukan friendly dish and both times looked up the menu first so I could make as good a choice as possible rather than ordering on the spot and maybe opting for something really bad!

It meant I could look forward to my dish (steak one day, salmon the next) rather than feel anxious about the meals out and helped me feel in control :)

You're doing really well :)

Nandos and Harvester are great options, if you happen to live near one and can steer your friends in their direction! Or as people have said, reading up on the menu beforehand can help you make an informed decision. It might not always be possible to go for something 100% Dukan-compatible but it is possible to make the most Dukan-friendly choice :) I've had a few tandoori chickens, and Mongolian bbqs at Chinese restaurants where you "pick your own" in my time...

and, in this season, seafood platters are a delight :)

I never thought I would get "fed up" with having to have a steak!!... Sometimes I just think I am never satisfied.

Thank goodness I live in a lovely city with lots of great restaurants to choose from

Brilliant thread... Made me laugh out loud... Thumbs up for the Dukan dieters!!! I'm loving this diet, just started cruise.. I love the fact that it is so strict.. Less temptation.. Whoop whoop for Dukan! Lol x

I started Dukan at end of August, reached target just over 2 months later (granted I didn't have a lot to lose, lost 21lb in total) and have kept 3lb below my target for the last 3 months.

To those who say Dukan doesn't work :

and not forgetting

:blahblah:

Lovely annalise and well done again to you!
