Noo I didn't know til today although I have plenty of syns and it's not much! Have you always been able to use it as a HEXB as I have never noticed before but three told me today so wondered if it was a new addition? X

I think it's always been on the fruity pages, I know SW inside out and can't fathom out how rhubarb is a free food, but it needs cooking to eat it, so hence you have to syn it? Who would eat raw rhubarb? Same with gooseberries lol. I'm sure you've done no damage, it's so low calorie and boosts metabolic rate ;)

Oh no I always Syn it just didn't know about the HEXB ? But then I never bothered to eat it last time round! I have only ever eaten gooseberries raw.. My nan had a gooseberry bush when u was little and I used to eat them... Don't think even i could manage rhubarb raw though lol

Ooo I thought gooseberries would be nasty uncooked, not sure I've ever had one. My Nans next door neighbour grew rhubarb lol ;)

Im not sure, I'm pretty new to sw. Going to ask my consultant and get back to you, it must be free cooked though, I mean lots of veg are cooked, but then again it is also in the hexB section. It is a bit confusing I think. I think if you add sweetener/honey though that would need to be synned of course. I'll get back to you!

Would it be because rhubarb is a relative of celery... Maybe actually a vegetable not a fruit therefore ok to cook with sweetener?

My granda used to grow rhubarb and we would get a poke of sugar and dunk the rhubarb in that and eat raw - used to love it though I am not sure I could do it now, my mouth is watering at the thought of it!!!!

I put lemon juice on and a tad bit of water in the dish and covered in foil (had it two nights now, three sticks so again tonight :p) I put all spice on and it went surpisly well oh and a coconut muller greek...lot of flavours put it went well and hit the spot...didnt need sweetner :)

Right I asked my consultant and she replied with this:

I have never heard of people eating raw rhubarb but to use it as a Healthy extra b choice, I think is a waste. My opinion is that the best value is to use it stewed as 0.5 for 100g (with an artificial sweetener or count the suger as more syns). That way you still have a b choice and use about 1 syn for a portion of rhubarb. Together with some fruit flavoured syn free yogurt, I think it makes a great dessert for 1 syn when one fancies something other than fresh fruit.

So still no idea why rhubarb is on the superfree list, since it can never really be eaten freely. so I guess your synning it makes most sense!

Ah thank you do much for asking dagmar :) that's what I have been doing Roasting it and having it with yogurt, I though after seeing the syns myself I must have my measurements wrong as I only use 1 Syn max and a HEX usually is around 6 syns so makes no sense :/

It's yummy though :)
