Why doesn't it work for me?

I have to say that my consultant does really push the superfree element on EE. If anyone hasnt lost much or at all its usually the first thing that she questions.

Personally I could munch on chicken 'chips' and mushy peas every night of the week but as there is no superfree in it , I don't

Mine too - she's fab. I just think we may be in the lucky minority tbh

Pepsi - they should be more than mentioning it in your new members all IMO. It should be the thing they repeat more than anything I reckon.

I totally agree....it is such an important part of the plan x

And if my consultant ever left I really done know what I would do - there are loads of classes in my area but not a patch on mine x

I am probably repeating what others have said, but I wanted to share advice that someone on here gave someone else who was disheartened. They wrote down "A dripping tap still fills a bucket" I wouldn't exactly call your weight losses slow, and I can empathise - I had 3 weeks staying the same! But the principle of that quote is even if you get there slowly, at least you're getting there. I've been doing this for 8/9 weeks now, and in all fairness, it's still early days - even for me! Remember, you're trying to change your eating patterns into a lifestyle, not a temporary quick fix, keep at it, stick with it and you will see results :D x

WOW - am gonna quote that phrase at class on Tuesday......excellently put x

Dont quote me as such, but I think when EE came out they didnt promote the 1/3 superfree at the time but then when everybody started eating plates of pasta and chips and stopped losing then they had to modify it.
I think there are some meals that I would struggle to have the 1/3 at - eg, spag bol - as I dont really like salad with it so I tend to throw loads of veg in the bol sauce and then eat some fruit straight after. Not sure if this is right but I dont have it that often anyway x

That's fine! The rule is per meal, not per plate, so if you had tomato salad & HEXA mozzarella salad for a starter, pasta for main and fruit salad for dessert then you'd be fine even if there wasn't enough superfree in the pasta because it evens up over the whole meal.

Oh dear..

First off. Its not a rule its a recommendation. A number of us emailed SW a while back for clarification on thid.

Second, its on the plate not over the meal.

The reason for this is really well explained in britmums blog - could someone post the link as i am on my phone at the mo?
But essentially, you are supposed to put it on your plate instead of higher calorie foods to reduce your calorie intake without weighing & measuring. If you really can't eat it on the same plate you should have it before, not after your meal.

But as its a recommendation if you did want a meal without it occassionally then fine. In fact, its better that you don't eat a bowl of fruit afterwards if you aren't hungry, just to get your to your superfree quota!

I know the reason - and in general we're not all eating three course meals (are we!?) but on occasions I think it's fine to even it out, if it's unavoidable.

I am slightly confused why you would say something like, use a fruit salad as your superfree quota when you know why you shoudn't. It doesn't make sense to eat a meal, then think, i'd better get my superfree in - i'll have a bowl of fruit, even though i'm not hungry anymore. It actually makes far more sense to not eat anything else.

Anywat, each to their own i guess.

Well, I'm trying to think in terms of actual health and nutrition rather than just calorie intake. Personally I like to eat fruit as a pudding to make sure that I get some vitamins and fibre if I've not had a superfree packed main course which pasta might not be.

I don't think many people would honestly say that they eat pudding because they are hungry.

Its very rare that I dont eat a meal without 1/3 but some I would struggle to. I get what you say about just eating the fruit for the sake of it and I am sure I have been told before that fruit should be eaten prior to meal x

Yup, something to do with it breaking down quicker than everything else i think x

Also if you eat it before the theory is that you are partially fully before you tuck into yr meal, therefore exercising portion control

No I tend to snack on fruit most of the time to be honest, only very occasionally is it a mugshot! Just wondered with having read the previous post, got a bit confused, which I do a lot ha ha. Thanks anyway
And my consultant is excellent also, she does say the first port of call for snacking should always be superfree, just occasionally you can have a mugshot. We would all be lost without her, she even posted on our group fbook page when she was on holiday. She really is a star and very commited.:D:D

I think reading some of the stories on here we are very lucky. My consultant is fab and we have a great class. It does make all the difference x

There are several threads on here where SW HQ have responded to emails and said it is perfectly okay to have your superfree after. There is even one that says as long you have one third superfree over the course of the day it is still okay.

While I agree that having it with your meal is optimal it does sometimes feel that we are becoming a bit evangelical about it. SW is a lot more relaxed about it that we give them credit for. :)

Yet another case of different information coming out from the same place. Very frustrating. I emailed them & was told that it should be on the plate, and that it was a recommendation not a rule. My consultant specifically says that you should not eat it as fruit after a meal, and that in fact, you should make sure that at least 2/3rds of your superfree is veg, not fruit.

I am sorry if it comes over as being evangelical, but when someone on here says something which directly contradicts everything I have been told by SW & my consultants, I feel it is only sensible to put the other side across. Last time I checked we were all grown ups who could make our own decisions on it. I choose to listen to my consultant, because aside from anything else, it's more logical to me, but as I said, each to their own.

I must admit that I struggle to get superfree in at breakfast time. I really don't want fruit with my all bran! If I have an omlette then I'll have tomato with it, but as I eat so much veg at lunch and tea I don't get uptight about it.

Actually I have heard more than one consultant spout the utmost bilge, (being clued up on nutrition after many years working with dietiticians)
