why is the dukan flavouring special?

Yesterday I bought a couple of flavouring from "silver spoon" at sainsburys and wonder if anyone knows the difference between those and the dukan ones.

The Silver Spoon flavourings contain a small amount of alcohol ("ethanol" on the label) , which is not recommended - but in these quantities normally does not do any harm.

Thats good to know as the dukan ones are very expensive when on a tight budget - they probably last ages its just the initial outlay that mainly puts me off I think

I think they are a lot of money for something that you may not like the taste of.

I don't mind losing £1 or less if I am not keen on a flavouring but the Dukan ones are way too much to take a gamble on.

I bought the chocolate and hazelnut ones from the Dukan site. They are expensive, and when making flavoured muffins I find myself using quite a lot of it to so that you can taste it in the batches I make. Am close to ordering another batch, but not sure seeing they don't last me that long :(

The flavourings are OK but I did expect something more! Don't know if I will order more but if I do it will be fruit based flavouring miss fruit like mad :( (not enough to have any though)

They are expensive but I suppose if we work out what we used to spend on "junk" we can justify it :)

i have to admit the Dukan apple crumble and Dukan Hazelnut have been life savers for me..

.. as for the Dukan banana.. don't even go there.

You don't like the banana? Has anyone tried the pistaccio?

I defo have to try the apple crumble...
do they have a flavour called whipped cream as well? :D

lol!!;)

it's not that i don't like banana ( i love banana) but the bottle i got from Dukan had gone off.

See my thread for Banana flavouring, I had a somewhat interesting email conversation with the Dukan shop about it today. They were so patronising - i've documented the whole conversation on the thread...

I bought a few flavourings here (not from Dukan shop, from a specialist cookery place). I found they all tasted synthetically "chemical", and I gave them all to Mouse who loves them. So they are obviously not to everyone's taste even!

Would the da Vinci sugar free syrups be a suitable substitute for the flavourings? I have used these in the past - but only for adding to coffee - but on seeing a short video of someone making Dukan muffins online they used a da Vinci gingerbread syrup - so wondering the difference - is it that they are already sweet?

What do you all do with these flavourings? Im worried if I have too much flavour i will crave other food again :( Same with sweet food.

I just add them to my sweetened yogurt.. I have vanilla, orange, rose, lemon, almond, banana and strawberry.. All foster clarks brand.
But a bit bored of all, so I now add flavored coffee (toffee) and a few goji berries, yummmy
