Will SW work for me?

I really need a lot of help, support and advice from you lot out there. I've been struggling to get back into a diet plan and exercise regime for the past six months, and the more time I spend fretting over which diet to follow the heavier I'm becoming & more time I'm wasting!

Believe it or not, I'm normally a small size 8 and 9.7stone, which for my stumpy height of 5ft 3 is a healthy BMI and the weight & size I feel comfortable and happy at. But since Christmas, laziness and greed kicked in and I've been on a constant binge since, gaining 3 and a half stone & now I'm a whopping 13st.

I'm not happy, in fact my weight has brought me to a deep depression, which is now causing me problems at home and in work. I don't want to be insecure any longer, I wanna find the old confident and outgoing me again!

I know I can get there, but I'm just stuck on what journey to follow to get there. In the past I've always followed my own VLCD, and on weekends I'd eat what I liked and it always worked for me... But I know it's not healthy, can screw up my metabolism & obviously the eating what I like at weekends spiralled into binge eating for months. I've tried Cambridge, calorie counting and both are too restrictive for me, which is why I came to SW..

I like the freedom that comes with SW, no weighing or measuring or counting this and that, and it also fits in better with my lifestyle as I have a 1 year old little boy & I want him to eat as healthy as possible too! But it's the slower weight loss that gets me - after following VLCD's for do long I've always been used to the weight falling off in chunks, so anything different is weird for me to adjust too.

I guess I'm worried that SW won't see me to my goal, or it'll take forever & a day, if I knew SW would get me there healthily and happily and keep the weight off long term then I'd 100% follow this route - but will it?

And another thing, I bloody hate vegetables, and with SW being fruit & veggie orientated I'd have to try and force some down me, and this worries me cause would I then find SW a chore because it involves eating so much that I dislike?

I'm so frustrated, help!!

Well its healthy eating, and when I've added my cals up for the day out of curiosity, its always been well under 2000, mostly 1500-1600 so you are lowering your calorie count without thinking too much about it! So there's no reason why it shouldn't work?

I think vlcd's are not something for a lifestyle change, I imagine they're very hard to stick to aswell. I'd only do that in desperation.

If you hate fruit and veg why not try the red/green plans? The 1/3 superfree etc is not compulsory on them two, as with extra easy. I do green days using quorn as substitute the only meat I really eat is chicken, so do EE the odd day.

Look, all you can do is give it a go. If it doesn't work out, try something else, like weight watchers or something. You have nothing to lose! Just go for it

I haven't really looked at the green or red plans, so I'll take a quick look now.. But think maybe I should do EE and learn to love veggies cause my attitude towards them is really childish!

I wanna adapt healthy eating into my lifestyle, and I want my LO to learn to eat healthily too, so that's why SW appeals to me so much.

You're right - I need to at least give it a chance! Hopefully it'll work for me like it has done for you :)

Yep, green and red are fab if you struggle to eat enough fruit and veg. I don't eat fruit and green days are perfect for me, I just try to fit in as much veg as I can to compensate.

Give it a go! It can't hurt. I was convinced that I would never find a diet that worked, best thing I ever did was give SW a go :)

I just had a nose at red and green days, but think I prefer EE cause it seems simpler.. I need to eat more fruit & veg anyway, so hopefully SW will help me with that!

I blitz up a full pack of mushrooms and crumble a stock cube into browned mince add mushroom puree and water and it makes a thick gooey gravy Veg can taste fantastic
