Will the exercise help?

Hi all,

I am having a lot of building work done at the moment and am finding it hard with no kitchen.

I have been keeping a very close eye on my syns and am 35 over this week so far (weigh on Weds) but have upped my exercise to cpmpensate. I have done one extra gym class and am planning to do another 2 extras on top of my usual. This will take me to 7 classes for the week.

Will this help limit the damage or am I kidding myself?

am not an expert but it should help in the long run.
It might not show on the scales this week.
I did the same thing last week and really upped my exercise to the point where on WI day I was walking like john wayne (the stairs up to the door nearly had me in tears). I had put on a lb.
My consultant said my muscles were probably clinging to water to repair themselves so thats why I had had a gain.
I am seriously hoping for a good loss this week and have kept up the same amount of exercise.
Good luck.

I think that in the long run exercise combined with following the plan can help boost losses. I dont really think it can compensate for being off plan. My leader used to say it was in addition to sw, it didnt allow you to have extras.

Exercise will help limit any damage to some degree but I agree it won't compensate for being off plan. I think the more you do the better, but in the future try to do exercise as part of the plan it will help with losses (if you are on plan).

For me without any exercise I my average loss while 100% on plan is 0.5lb but with very large amounts of exercise (a few hours a day) I loose 2.5lbs to 3.5lbs! So it definitively is worth the effort.

But saying that 35 syns over isn't good at all but not as bad as may seem it's about 700cals and with a lot of exercise that amount can be burned off over a week with large amounts of exercise.

But as Funky_Munky has said it should be in addition to sw, it doesn't allow you to have extras

You haven't blown your week completely at all, just keep at it. As you have some of week left you could try limiting your syns to 5 a day too if it wouldn't make you feel too deprived.

Good luck at weigh in hun xx

I normally don't see any significant increases in weight loss when I excersize because I get more hungry and so eat more. Therefore I replenish any extra calories burned. I think this might be why SW don't let you have extra syns when you exercise.

However, there are so many benefits to exercise including a better body shape so there's no excuse not to do any.

Thanks for the replies. O am struggling to stay within syns as the bottom half of my house is a building site so we are eating out a lot to feed the kids somewhere clean. I am making sw friendly choices but am inevitably having to count extra syns as not cooking myself.

The extra exercise is to try and limit the damage as well as to escape the mess!
