Please help me bounce back from the ultimate failure and lose 8/9 stone!

Em, I really do think we are fighting such similar battles! I get told the baby steps thing a lot too. The trouble is I am quite impulsive and if I am having a good day will miss out all the baby steps and just dive straight in, whether that is getting the bus by myself or finding voluntary...

THREE STONE! Chezz that is amazing! 42lbs! Just imagine carrying around a sack with that weight in it! My baby nephew is roughly a stone at the moment, which is a bit horrifying when I feel the weight of him / see the size of him and then realise I would like to lose at least SIX of him!!! I...

Please help me bounce back from the ultimate failure and lose 8/9 stone!

Sounds like the perfect plan, that way you don't have to worry about what you are eating when you're out with friends either. New clothes sound good too! I don't tend to have non-food treats, i find it difficult to go out, have pushed away most of my friends, and feel guilty if I buy anything...

Please help me bounce back from the ultimate failure and lose 8/9 stone!

I guess you're right CG, it just made me feel sad to think we had all taken such a difficult route (whatever the women's magazine articles would have you believe, weight loss surgery is painful, and definitely not the easy route. Imagine sitting with a delicious meal in front of you and knowing...

    Eeek! Re-starter - 10stone to lose

Hello CG, just catching up with what you've been up to! It feels really nice to have friends and support on here doesn't it? Are you being treated for your iron deficiency? I can totally identify with your exhaustion - I get really anaemic, I think because I can't absorb iron very well after...

    Kicking my butt in gear { anyone got a spare size 15!}

You are already started on your way, keep going, keep smiling and keep your goal in sight! By the way, I like the necklace you are fancying. I have got a bracelet I wear all the time which says 'everything is possible' on it. I think part of me hopes I will eventually believe it!

Anyone else find lactose intolerance makes low-fat meals more difficult?

You can get lactase drops that you put in liquid and leave for 24 hours or something like that, after which it is supposedly lactose free! So theoretically we could make our own skimmed milk . . but I think I would be too scared to try it! It's scary enough when I put my faith in the lactase...

    Here we go again!!!

Ooh do you reckon slimming world ice cream would be low on weight watcher points too? It sounds nice! What do you put in it? Do you know what, I'd never really thought about it, but I seem to have more cold than hot food when I'm dieting too, whatever diet I am on! Maybe you could ask for...

Anyone else find lactose intolerance makes low-fat meals more difficult?

Actually, I'm sure when I was in America earlier this year they had the equivalent of skimmed milk! ( I get a bit confused because they have 1%, 2% etc!). They even had chocolate milk too, which was really nice! I was green with envy looking at all their lactose-free and soya products!

Anyone else find lactose intolerance makes low-fat meals more difficult?

Really? That's interesting! Although surely it wouldn't affect the manufacture too much - don't they just add the lactase enzyme to it and wait for it to break down the lactose?

My rabbit has been shopping online! (off topic)

Sorry, not about weight loss but I'm sure there is always time for a smile in between our diets :) I got home yesterday afternoon and found a delivery note saying a parcel had been left in my 'small greenhouse'. Uh oh, that's not good I thought to myself as I rushed out into the garden - my...

Anyone else find lactose intolerance makes low-fat meals more difficult?

That is exactly what they do here! You can get both semi-skimmed and full-fat milk, but not skimmed! I have no idea why! To give the company some credit, they have made life easier for me since bringing out single-use milk portions, as before that if I wanted a cup of tea out somewhere I had to...

You are doing so well, therapy is bloomin hard isn't it? Chezz, hope you are pleased with your weigh-in tomorrow! Mine was yesterday - I lost 2lb so 4lb altogether, not bad for 2 weeks but I usually lose more at the start of the diet! As long as it stays consistent I suppose! Btw, my weighing scales are weight watchers ones, iv had them a few days...

    Eating disorders therapy?

I would just like to add something to this if that is ok. I have been under the eating disorder services myself, but sadly in my area they were a bit of a let-down. Good luck with slimming world! Is it very different now then to how it used to be? You could always loosely base what you eat each day on the old books if you find the new way doesn't suit you as well? You will still be getting all the support and encouragement from going to the group? Claire

Anyone else find lactose intolerance makes low-fat meals more difficult?

I've been lactose intolerant for years, and although it is frustrating a lot of the time, most of the time I manage to find alternatives to dairy or take lactase tablets to counteract it. (although I hate doing this!) It gets more difficult when trying to diet however. For example I really like...

    How do you handle this?

This sounds just like me too! I can quite often get round the urge to eat by having a really nice drink - either by having a soft drink and adding ice cubes and a straw so it seems a bit more special, or by having a coffee and adding sugar-free flavoured syrup to it. It just makes me feel like...
