What SW 3 course gourmet meal would you make if you were on Come Dine With Me?

I would LOVE to be on this show, except for a slight fear of people poking around my bedroom, and I'm constantly thinking about what I'd make if I was on it! Mine would be: Starter: roast squash and sage risotto topped with rocket and watercress (3 syns per portion) Main: roast leg of lamb...

    Help a sinner!

I have never been a snacker (too worried about my teeth!) but I know that plenty of people like to save syns and healthy extras for supper or snacks in the evenings. If you want to cut out snacking altogether there are a few things you can do - what time do you eat dinner and is it filling...

Why the back fees if you miss meetings?

The consultant depends on your weekly attendance so s/he needs to know roughly how many people to expect to be able to estimate his/her income. If you don't go to group, and aren't penalised for it by having to pay a fee, then where will that leave the consultant's finances if 10or 15 other...

Superspeed Soup - confused about my weightloss this week

Are you using flavoured couscous and synning it? Why not try using plain stuff and added herbs, citrus zest or spices like ras el hanout or sumac when you are rehydrating it? Then you'll be able to have more with your salad without fretting about the syn value. What other sorts of things do...

What do eat on weigh in day!!

It doesn't really matter as long as you do the same every week. I am weighing in tonight and am just tucking into a tub of natural yoghurt, bloobs and muesli. Lunch will be a massive lunchbox of rocket, baby spinach, watercress, mixed roast veg and a tin of cannellini beans for protein. I...

    Meal sharing.

I've always used that rule of thumb - freeze once raw, freeze once cooked. So you can buy mince on offer and freeze it, then make a chilli, then freeze the leftovers, then reheat and be fine. Obvious caveats about making sure it's piping hot all the way through! This sounds like a brilliant...

    Money money money

I find Slimming World pretty cheap! I don't eat processed foods like Mugshots, Muller Lights, savoury rice, Pasta & Sauce which people on here seem to talk about a lot because they are so artificial tasting so I suppose that cuts down a lot on spending. I don't eat in between meals because...

    filippo berio

Yeah - I agree with who_la_hoop. I had this and the spray is like a water pistol! Really tricky to get an even thin mist like with Frylight. I use dripping or lard for roasties - 2 level tsp is 4 syns and they come out brilliantly - much better than Frylight - and only 2 syns a portion. I...

Unexpected weight gain while on SW. Any ideas?

Why doesn't it work for me?

Well, I'm trying to think in terms of actual health and nutrition rather than just calorie intake. Personally I like to eat fruit as a pudding to make sure that I get some vitamins and fibre if I've not had a superfree packed main course which pasta might not be. I don't think many people...

Why doesn't it work for me?

I know the reason - and in general we're not all eating three course meals (are we!?) but on occasions I think it's fine to even it out, if it's unavoidable.

Does anyone save up Syns for a takeaway?

I loooove Indian food but always struggle with getting 1/3 superfree so I've stopped having meat curries. What do you all do for the superfree element if you have takeaway on an EE day?
  19. feggy

Why doesn't it work for me?

That's fine! The rule is per meal, not per plate, so if you had tomato salad & HEXA mozzarella salad for a starter, pasta for main and fruit salad for dessert then you'd be fine even if there wasn't enough superfree in the pasta because it evens up over the whole meal.

    Sizzler pubs....help

We used to go to Sizzling pubs quite often - I always had steak with salad. Or gammon and a jacket potato. Not a lot to choose from if you're on a Green day, and the side salads aren't really 1/3 so maybe go red and HEXB the jacket?

    Do diets REALLY work?

I don't think you can judge a diet while you're on it - long term weight loss is something like 5 years or more officially speaking as the OP says. What's your secret for good weight losses?

I lose loads more if I drink herbal tea (I like chamomile) during the day and have my HEXA as cheese than I do if I'm using the milk a little at a time in coffee. Weeks where I've had 7 EE days also seem to result in smaller losses than ones where I switch it up a bit.

    Please help (re sw chips)

I tend to think that Fry Light is so gross and fake tasting anyway that I almost always use some oil and just count it or have it as a healthy extra. A HEXB of 1 tbsp can be divided into 3 x 1 tsp which is usually the max number of things I cook with oil in a day anyway.

Mmm - great soup recipes! Not sure I agree with BritMum - the 1/3 superfree applies to the whole meal so a superfree fruit salad afterwards or superfree soup or salad as a starter definitely counts as being part of that meal. My favourite soup is Red and Orange Soup. Sauté finely chopped...

"Treat" after weigh in? (and general rant!)

If WI has been good, I definitely have a treat, but don't go overboard - maybe a takeaway but no wine, or SW friendly food but with a few extra glasses of wine. If WI has been bad, I eat super healthily afterwards because I get so desperate not to have 2 bad weeks in a row!

Soft cheese as HEXA on Extra Easy?

Hi all, Just wondering if Extra Low Fat Soft Cheese can be used as HEXA on EE? In particular, it's the Morrison's Reduced Fat Soft Cheese which works out as 1 1/2 syns per 28g. It's lower in kcals and sat. fat than Philly Extra Light! Thanks in advance! Feggy
