    How do you drink yours!

Been a while since I posted here, but I whizz mine up in the food processor so it gets lots of air bubbles in it and goes nice and thick, then I drink it through a straw. The work of drinking through the straw makes it take longer and feel more like hard work than just gulping it down...

    Sucess Stories?

I lost two stone on it and after a bit of a break, I'm back on it again now. I'm a hopeless dieter and have never found any other diet that works for me other than Slimfast (although I use a combination of Slimfast & Tesco). I always thought these diets were 'faddy' and wouldn't...

Sorry I've not been back to the thread, but glad that my experience has been helpful. Good luck and don't worry, I'm sure you will get there ;).

    Tesco Shakes

Hi Amelia, I've been using the Tesco shakes diet for about two years now. I was always one of those who scoffed at the idea of these sort of 'shake' diets, until I tried it myself. I went on it because I needed to loose weight before having a gastric bypass op (which I never had). I lost...

    What's wrong with me?

Not at all breadbin. Thanks for taking the trouble to keep looking. Today I feel a little better, and have even baked a cake this morning. Not because I feel like eating it (the family will see to that part of it later) but just because I wanted to do something I wanted to do, rather than...

    What's wrong with me?

Thanks for asking breadbin. No, no change. I know I'm depressed as I've suffered with depression on and off since my teens (I'm now nearly 48). I guess one blessing is that I realise what depression is and how it affects me, where as in the past I kind of went with it not knowing what was...

    What's wrong with me?

To be perfectly honest Shlinz, I doubt it would make any difference. My daughters will do things when I ask, and often make me cups of tea, especially when they see me upset. My partner sees nothing unusual. Just thinks I'm 'having another down phase' and will come out of it. Even if I did...

    What's wrong with me?

Thank you breadbin. No, no family. Partner is part of the problem. It's like looking after another child. He doesn't do any of the usual things a husband is meant to do like wash the car, mow the lawn, decorating, household repairs etc. It's all down to me. I feel I was better off when I...

    What's wrong with me?

Thanks, I've suffered from depression in the past, and I do feel low just now (crying as I write this). Lots going on in my life just now, and I feel like I'm constantly on the go...but always to the aid of others, never for myself. I'm trying to help my two youngest with their college/school...

    What's wrong with me?

Just over a year ago, I was on here on the Surgical Weight Loss forum, and awaiting my Gastric Bypass op. In a nut shell, the hospital seem to have totally forgotten me. My GP wrote to them to buck them up - still no response, although if I am honest, I don't think I am 100% comitted to that...

    Which powder shake is nicest?

My absolute favourite is Tesco Lighter Choices Chocolate flavour as it whips up so thick when done in the blender. Next is SlimFast Banana which is really nice and refreshing. Then Tesco Strawberry. On the whole I prefer the Tesco ones but they don't do many flavours. Something I found was...

    Ohhh

Sorry to hear that you don't like the shake powders. Not everyone likes them. As an alternative, have you thought of trying the Tesco Lighter Choices brand? They are cheaper but (in my opinion and to my own taste buds) taste much nicer. The chocolate one mixes up into a nice thick shake...

    Day 1 - hated it!!!

Personally I don't like the Slimfast Chocolate one either, but the Tesco one is superb and I had it for 9 months breakfast & lunch and lost two stone. I do sometimes have the banana Slimfast one but Tesco seem to have stopped doing that.:sigh: Good luck and stick with it :)

Any offers on Slimfast at the moment?

Does anyone know if anywhere has any special offers on Slimfast at the moment? Tesco often have it on offer but don't seem to at the moment. Many thanks :)

    Empty Tins

Yep, mine go in the recycling, although we are not allowed to put the plastic lids in, which have to go seperate in the general rubbish. Here are a few suggestions I've thought of: Cover tin with sticky back plastic, fabric, fancy paper or paint it, cut slot in lid and you have a savings...

    Slim Fast - Doing Well

Wow, you really are an inspiration to us strugglers! Well done you and keep up the good work. Trying to push my own diet at the moment. Lost 2st in the last year (with a few lbs creeping back which isn't unusual for me), but really want to make a go of it and see if I can loose some more...

Tesco Lighter Choices - have they withdrawn it?

I have been using the Tesco Lighter choices version of meal replacement shakes. In a year I lost 2 stone but then hit a plateau. Although it's not a vast ammount in a long time, it's the best I have ever done, never having stuck to a diet for even a week. I went to get my usual chocolate...

Thank you so much for all the replies everyone, and my apologies for having not got back on here before now to check out the thread. I'm still goign nowhere fast and not getting down under my 19 stone. My lowest has been 19st 4lb and I just can't get under that. Doesn't help that my male...

    I feel like crying...

Hi folks, I've been on SF/TLC (Tesco Lighter Choices) shakes since about August last year and lost about 2 stone. I've always set myself small achievable goals of half a stone at a time which have made things more managable. However, now I seem to have hit a plateau and can't seem to loose...

can you add water to the shakes instead of milk?

Yes, most stores have it on the bottom shelf below the tins of slimfast. Usually the milk one on the left, then the hot chocolate one, then strawberry. Just look closely as there is not much difference between the cold milk one and the hot milk one on the box.

    Not sure where I belong....

Thank you rhuba. It certainly does help to have others who are also treading the same somewhat weary path. Having support from others has really helped me this time, regardless of how they have lost their weight. We are all different and manage our weight loss in different ways. I think for...

can you add water to the shakes instead of milk?

Yes, it's a meal replacement. I shouldn't think it will make a difference to the nutrients if you drink it cold rather than hot. Chilled would be nice. :) Tesco's Lighter Choices. It looks similar to the one that you do make with milk, so make sure you pick up the right box.

    I must be good today

I'm having a 'must be good' day too. I felt I pigged out over the weekend. Had a carvery on Saturday when we met a friend for lunch, although it was mainly meat and veg and I went easy on the roast potatoes. Had a cheeseburger yesterday, and and ice cream, and was convinced I'd shove myself...

can you add water to the shakes instead of milk?

Tesco's actually do a hot chocolate version that you make up with water. Depends on the taste if you make it with cold water and don't heat it, no idea what it tastes like, but wether you drink it hot or cold I shouldn't think it makes any difference to the taste, just not sure what it would...

    Small steps - mini targets

Just saw this thread and had to reply. I too am in need of loosing quite a large amount. I was 21st 7lb but am currently down to 19st 4lb. I've found that having little targets really helps. My first was to get under 21st. Then to loose my first stone and get to 20st 7lb, then to get under...

Hi everyone :wavey:, I've been on Mini's for just over a year now. I started on the Surgical Weight Loss Forum, as in the past, I'd tried everything I could to loose weight, but nothing worked. After seeing lots of successful stories on TV early last year, and watching a friend have a...

Tesco Light Choices Hot Chocolate Meal Replacements

Ok, had my Tesco Lighter Choices hot chocolate meal replacement drink today. It's ok. Have to say I prefer hot chocolate made with milk to be honest, but this is certainly drinkable. I used level scoopfulls rather than rounded, as I don't like it too strong, and it was just about right. For...

Tesco Light Choices Hot Chocolate Meal Replacements

Well I bit the bullet and nipped to Tesco's and got some of the hot chocolate meal replacement drink. Can't have anything else tonight or I'll pop, but will try it tomorrow and let you know how it goes. Wondering how it mixes up as there are only 8 servings in a tub and you need three scoops...

Tesco Light Choices Hot Chocolate Meal Replacements

I've avoided that one so far as I have never liked hot chocolate made with water. What does it taste like? I can always tell the difference between hot chocc made with milk and hot choccy made with water. Much prefer milk, although I only drink skimmed milk now. Perhaps I shall have to bite...

    Christmas/New Year Challenge

Pathetic as it may sound, but I want to be under 20st before Christmas. I'm 20st 8lb at the moment, and really have hit a plateau. Just can't seem to shift anymore, despite eating like a sparrow. So.....not setting myself too high a target. Really need to shift a couple of pounds before I...

Does anyone else find SF makes them constipated?

I took a Xenical with my second shake yesterday. It kind of 'got things moving' a bit. Hubby said there is some medication that helps relieve constipation without causing dioreah.....anyone know what it may be called ? I'm trying to eat a bit more fruit between shakes. See if that helps...

Does anyone else find SF makes them constipated?

I've been on SF for about a month now, and I'm finding it is making me really constipated. I'm struggling to 'go' every day and feeling really uncomfortable. My surgeon (I'm down to have a gastric bypass) has given me Xenical which are known to cause dioreah but they don't have any effect. I...

Anyone Tried Tesco Meal Rep Shakes?

The other thread is called 'Light Choices Meal Replacements'. Yes, I've tried them. They are cheaper than Slim-Fast. I swear by the chocolate one which makes up into a nice thick and filling shake and keeps me going for 6 hours with no snacks. Spoke to the dietitian at the hospital today...

Slimfast causing strokes & Heart Attacks???

I'm inclined to agree with you Cek. Slim Fast has been around for years. Surely if there was any problem with it there would have been a mass withdrawl of it from the shelves by now. Personally I think it's a load of cobblers. I'll see if I can get it out of her where she heard this, or if...

Slimfast causing strokes & Heart Attacks???

Please can someone put my mind at rest.....I've just started on a self imposed Slimfast diet of a shake for breakfast, one for lunch and an evening meal of 600 calories. I mentioned this to a friend today, who said I should be careful as Slimfast causes strokes and heart attacks? My first...

    "Light Choices" meal replacements?

I found the same thing, strawberry doesn't make me feel anywhere near as full as the chocolate. I could survive on just the chocolate one. Boring, but I love it. That and the banana Slimfast one. Not keen on either of the strawberry ones to be honest.

    The new me!!!!

Well done Chrissie. I've been on Slimfast (one for brekkie, one for lunch and a proper dinner.....no snacks) for about two weeks now, and have lost about 4lb, which I didn't think was much. Was hoping it would come off quicker than that. Oh well, am going to keep going.

    1 stone gone

Wow FMB, that's great going, well done you :) I'm doing slimfast at the moment. Not weighed myself yet but I can tell things are happening as clothes and jewellery is all getting loose. Will do a weigh in in a few days and see what's what. Hope I can do as well as you.

    What can I drink?

I'm another newbie to Slimfast (although actually going for a gastric bypass, but trying to loose weight before the op to shrink my liver). I thought I'd give Slimfast a try, so picked up a couple of the cheaper tesco variety last week. Tried them and they made me feel really full. I had to...

Can you make up shakes with skimmed milk?

Hi everyone, On the side of the Lighter Choices shakes cartons, it says to make them up with semi skimmed milk. In tea, I have skimmed. Is it ok to use skimmed (surely it would be less calories) or does it have to be semi-skimmed? Taste wise I don't notice the difference.

Well I'm not sure how 'healthy' my diet is but today I had: Breakfast - Strawberry LC shake Snack - Wholemeal banana sandwich Lunch - Chocolate LC shake Dinner - minced beef, new potatoes, loads of veg. Couldn't eat all of it though. Also drank two cups of tea with no sugar and...

    Banana milk shake!

Hi everyone :) I've popped in from the surgical weight loss forum. I'm trying to loose some weight pre-op and picked up one of each of the Tesco's Lighter Choices ready made shakes. I thought they would be disgusting, but I actually liked them. Only thing that niggled me was that they only...
