I need a good talking to!!!

Thanks for the reply - I really appreciate it. I'm also thinking about going it alone ... something I never thought I would do. I'm going to see how I get on this week on my own, and make a decision on Tuesday, which is my next weigh-in day. I'm continuing with the SW plan, but I've started...

Anyone got any yummy recipes for rhubarb?

What I tend to do with fruit like rhubarb, plums etc. is just cut into pieces and 'stew' until soft in a pan over a gentle heat in a little no added sugar squash (preferably not orange or lemon anything too citrussy, but apple and blackberry, forest fruits etc. any of those sorts of flavours...

    Car boot sales

Yes definitely, I should have made that clearer - it does depend on what you're selling. I've mainly got what you'd probably describe as kitchenalia items - old enamel biscuit tins and pottery jugs, candlesticks etc. - arty farty shabby chic type stuff as well as slightly wacky vintage type...

I need a good talking to!!!

Weighed in tonight only to discover that despite being 100% and then some every day for the past week ... I have gained half a pound. I went the whole of Easter without so much as a whiff of chocolate despite there being Lindt eggs and bunnies and allsorts in full view in the kitchen...

    Car boot sales

I used to do car boots regularly a few years back and could make good money - £100 quid plus on a Sunday morning selling bits and bobs, including clothes, which I hang on a rail alongside my table where I can keep an eye (I have had stuff nicked at boot sales sad to say). More recently I...

    Sooo annoyed at shop lady!!!

If this had happened to me I'd have told her 'you've just lost yourself a sale' ... and walked straight out of the shop. Then I'd have gotten on the phone to their head office and asked to speak to the area manager or whoever and told them they'd just lost a customer and why. How dare she...

    How Do I Tell Husband...

Sorry to hear you never found your rings. Read all through this thread and it reminded me of the time my son left his wallet in the kitchen. It was his 13th birthday and he'd got a lot of money - from grandparents etc. - had about 150 quid in there. One of his friends had been in the house...

    Tuesday Weighers

Half a pound on for me .. and to say I am absolutely gutted is an understatement. I am so cheesed off I can't tell you. I have not put a foot wrong I swear ... and am racking my brains to try and figure out how this has happened. I've gone right through Easter without even sniffing a bit of...

After a few weeks attending group, is it worth going it alone? Opinions please!

I know I couldn't do it without going to group each week. It's an essential part of the whole thing for me. As good as the plan is .. I know I wouldn't last five minutes on my own. Plus my scales (although brand new and digital) seem to make it up as they go along. Weight is all over the...

Has Slimming World worked for you when no other plan has?

Actually Paul you make an excellent point - even though I got a bit carried away and practically wrote 'War and Peace' as my answer :D ... I missed that one out lol!! I have actually lost weight before - at the start of last year, I gave up wine, bread, pasta etc. - got a pedometer and started...

Time of the month weight gain!!

it's called “menstrual edema” (premenstrual weight gain peaking at the onset of flow). It's only fluid, not fat - and nothing to worry about ... it will disappear as quickly as it came (until next month) but I agree, it is disappointing when it shows up on the scales.
  12. M

Has Slimming World worked for you when no other plan has?

I can only endorse what everyone has said here. Slimming World is brilliant! I have tried numerous ways to reverse the weight gain that has been slowly building up over the past five years - about three stone in that time. Nothing has worked and I was so depressed and down about my weight...

Confused...difference between extra easy and green

I'm a veggie too .. and I do green days every day. Haven't even looked at Extra Easy if I'm honest. I like the green because it allows me to have both milk AND cheese (not either/or) and as I don't eat eggs ... dairy is my main source of protein. I eat loads and loads of veg and fruit (always...

    Does anyone have days....

Yep I definitely get days like these. I could honestly eat non-stop and some days it hasn't been far off that. So far I've managed to avoid going off plan - but I do end up eating loads and loads of food on plan ... and it doesn't quite satisfy the 'hunger' or whatever it is that drives...

What true story have you read which was really enthralling?

Suits Me: The Double Life of Billy Tipton Diana Wood Middlebrook Billy Tipton was an American Jazz pianist and band leader but in fact he was born Dorothy Tipton, and almost nobody knew the truth until the day he died in 1989. Over a fifty-year performing career, Billy Tipton fooled nearly...

    Whats for tea tonight?

Haven't had pasta for a while ... so I cut up some red pepper, aubergine, red onion and mushrooms and 'roasted' them under the grill with a few sprays of 'fry light'. Meanwhile I made up a tomato sauce of crushed gariic, canned tomatoes, dried oregano and ripped up fresh basil leaves with salt...

Anyone in the 11 stone bracket want support to get down to the 10s?

Howdy! I've just come over from the 12 stone department ... at tonight's weigh-in I have lost another 2lb which takes me down to - 11stone 13lbs! I'll likely be around here quite a while - I'm averaging just under 2lb loss per week at the moment, so I'll be here for a few weeks.

    Tuesday Weighers

2lb off for me. That's my first half stone gone, and takes below 12stone - so two milestones passed this week. Plus, I wasn't able to get out for my walks this past week (I do the 10,000 steps a day thing) ... so with that as well I might even have lost a little more. Anyway ... another loss...

    Sober April

That's good to hear. I must admit she doesn't look 'botoxed' for want of a better word, so it's good to hear that maybe she has kept it natural and just aged well. It's just that so many of these celebrities deny having anything done ... when it's so flamin' obvious. It would be wonderful if...

I was reading an article by Joanna Lumley (who is 66 years old!!!) ... and she was saying that she watches the wine - never drinking more than a couple of glasses every now and then because she thinks it 'goes straight to the face'. At the time I thought 'what a load of old cobblers?'...

    Did anyone panic buy petrol

No I didn't. Can't understand the mentality to be honest - they are creating the shortage they are trying to avoid? If I haven't got any petrol then I'll walk, take the bus, cycle, do whatever .... but no way will I sit in a great long queue in a petrol station.

    Whats for tea tonight?

I just bought two sweet potatoes in Co-op when I got my lottery tickets .. so I might make them into 'chips' and have them with veggie burgers and some 'roasted' veg - red onion/red pepper/mushrooms/cherry toms etc, plus a big rocket salad on the side.

Still can't get my head around how much I am eating??

I think you're right Catherine. It's the 'visual' effect and the amount of munching I do .. I think is making my thinking skewed. For breakfast today I had two weetabix again with skimmed milk. Normally I'd have semi-skimmed milk and a spoonful of sugar or two on that, and maybe a bit of...

I never said there was a chocolate bar that had the same amount of calories as a banana. What I said was - a calorie is a calorie wherever it comes from. If you read my post again I made the hypothetical comparison of 12 bananas equalling two chocolate bars and I also stressed that I was...

From an ex smoker -hope this helps

I finally quit in September last year after decades of smoking. I had given up before - through both my pregnancies, once for almost a year, another time for six months ... and I could also go several days without smoking but I'd always go back to it. As soon as life got stressful (which of...

Such a lovely post and very true. I've only lost 5lb over 3 weeks - but I 'feel' different. My jeans are definitely looser, I'm walking a bit taller, taking care over my make up and so on, exercising every day - only a little 20 minute workout I devised plus walking .. but all these factors...
