2015 and It's Now or Never!

Lurrrrrve the coat and especially boots - I could do with some of them too to keep my feet warm
Hope everything goes ok at the docs. Let us know tonight please what he says.

Having convinced myself that I was not going to be unduly perturbed by the thought of having cancer which my doctor had quite convincingly mentioned on my last visit I was more than a little surprised when he didn't mention it at all! In fact his main topic was that my kidneys were failing quite badly and I was about two steps away from needing dialysis. I did restrain myself from asking as to whether they were small or large steps.. :D .. He then went on to say was I under a kidney specialist..No! .. Well we must see to that straight away... which gradually turned into .. I want you to take your Bp twice in the morning and twice in the evening , keep a record of it and come back in a months time after another blood test and we'll take it from there. ( ) So I then related my experience with the very pedantic receptionist in that I MUST come in for a blood test before 10.30 and found myself almost in tears to which he quickly made the app for me.. noon on Jan 6th..and with such great smugness that I felt he wanted a great applause.. :happy096:
All that being said I do wonder whether he has any idea of the rollercoaster of emotions I went thro' with all that!! Suffice to say that whilst I have been on quite a few occasions called a drama queen.. and well deserved I admit!.. never the less I think he is several steps ahead of me.. and big ones at that!! :D

Some better news..Having phoned my energy supplier this morning about refunding the credit balance of £310.50 from my account I was quite pleasantly surprised when she agreed almost straight away when I suggested leaving my payments as they are at £111 pm... success!
Phoned Tesco bank about my credit card being locked. He assured me it was okay but when I went to use it this evening..still locked! Grrr!!
Then phone call to TalkTalk about my emails.. long story but he helped me to put that right only to find I now don't have a tool bar.. :sigh: .. I was offered a better router which will .. supposedly, speed things up but that means getting my tech man in to install it as I only get into a muddle with those things.

Well, that's me for today.. and after all that a big bar of my fav choc was downed..Yay!!

I think a big bar of choc was 100% in order after your day Emm! Sorry to hear about your kidneys and cancer scare - Gee sometimes doctors get us worked up and worried don't they... Hopefully everything is stabilised and it can be treated before dialysis is needed.

Yay for your refund! :D

I do find docs frustrating. Last time he mentions cancer but this time no mention.
So what's changed in the meantime?
And did he explain why he wants you to take your BP four times a day?
Grrrr to all doctors

Swapping a router though Emm is pretty easy. You shouldn't need a techy to do it for you. Not even you!
But do watch out with Talk-Talk. They did this for my friend.

Her actual phone line connection wasn't up to taking the faster router and speed and it cut her internet off completely.
She was down for 4 weeks whilst they messed around with BT saying it was Talk-Talks problem and vice versa.
She gave up in the end and had to get a new phone line installed and get this connected as they just could not get her old number working with the internet at all. So she now has to pay for 2 lines as she didn't want to lose her old number that she'd had for 15 years!

He initially said that the anemia was most probably because of the naproxen causing a stomach bleed but more likely that I had cancer. Then after the blood test because of taking the iron tablets the anemia condition had improved... but it wasn't as if he then started off by saying something along the lines of it wasn't that after all.. not that they like admitting to being wrong anyway.
The Bp test is because a high bp is what causes kidney failure. However, when I had my diabetic check a few months ago the nurse was delighted that ALL my checks, including my Bp were excellent.

Got me a bit nervous about the new router business Bev. I am thinking about cancelling it.. just can't be doing with any more things to deal with at the mo'!
Thanks for the info anyway.

I was considering getting a tablet thingy...the thing that you can read books on.
As I have been filling out a My Survey thing online my points have amounted to quite a few so I was able to get 3 £10 vouchers to spend on Amazon.. nice little discount methinks. (as you can see I'm not quite with it tonight.. :D )

Managed to keep my Cals to 1159 and Carbs 128 whether they stay like that remains to be seen.. Off to bed.. bad night last night. No doubt repercussions of all that angst.

Gotta Change!

Wednesday 4th December 2013

Yep! Gotta change that idea of just keeping things steady as it doesn't do for me!
It's like not having anything to motivate me and I'm gradually drifting into more and more leeways in my diet... not good at all and I fear that very soon the pounds will start piling on again. After all this time and all my hard work that just ain't gonna happen!
So today will be a 100% one and I'm so ready for that.. :girlpower: .. YAY!

Your halfway there Em as you have recognised you are giving yourself to much leeway - that's the part most people take to long to figure out :) Good on you!

Visit to physiotherapist this afternoon who was really great. Made such a change to have someone who not only showed great sympathy for my condition but also went out of her way to explain exactly what was wrong with my shoulder. Apparently it's not a frozen shoulder as I had thought but the muscles have been torn and with added arthritic onset as well... Honestly, if you could hear my arm when I move it the sound is liking a churning mill grinding. I feel so much happier now I know what's what.
Went into city to book for a ballet next Feb 17th at the Theatre Royal.. Wanted to see the Nutcracker but the seat row I wanted was full so decided on seeing Sleeping Beauty instead. Also booked to have a meal there before the performance.
Really cold outside today and was glad to get home in the warm again.

Have put my carbs goal a bit higher as going into ketosis is not good for kidney problems I find.

Evening Emmaline x or is it morning? ;)

How reassuring that you managed to have such a nice chat with your physiotherapist :) It makes such a difference when someone explains something doesn't it? X

The ballet and meal sound lovely. Do you go very often? I think the last ballet I saw was in the 70's when I was just a teenager ! Xx

Afternoon Emm
As Dawn said - it's so much better when you find someone who is prepared to explain things clearly to you and put your mind at rest.
Good idea to up the carbs slightly too - we need you here fit and well and posting! :)

Thanks for the visit Dawn and Bev.

Thursday 5th December 2013

Starting off with my usual ailments post! :D
Had an awful reaction to some water that I drank last night.. I had a bit left in a bottle of sparkling water that I drink to stave off the cramps but forgot that it had been standing there for about 24hrs and was rather "stale".. which made me have a very bad attack of vertigo. Just daren't move my head at all so going to the loo I had to walk like a robot... very awkward and nearly fell over a couple of times. I do have some tabs for it but they are very out of date so must get some more.

Ailments report over..

Had quite a good day and made a lovely boiled Christmas cake. Everso high in cals and carbs so must be determined to have just a weeney slice whenever. (yummy)

Funny how that was not on my original agenda but anything to divert from getting into a fitting session to sort out my clothes for the holiday.. :sigh: Trouble is there's lots of altering to do which is the main bugbear! That's the annoying thing of being so short... even the 25" leg trousers are too long for me..Grrrr!

Had a good think about the router which arrived this morning and phoned TalkTalk to tell them I am returning it. Even after explaining that being a disabled OAP and I can't get down to changing plugs and I would have to pull this table out..AND I can't afford to get someone in to do..(being as it's Xmas and have lots of grandchildren to buy for.. ahem..not) he still went on to try to get me to have another package..especially as I am such a good and long term customer..what a lot of BS!! Finally I just told him outright quite sternly what I was doing and said goodbye!!

Funnily enough I have quite enjoyed today mainly because I have accomplished several things and in particular kept to a good diet.

Breakfast - Oats 40g + Honey 1/2 Tablspn
Lunch - Bread 1 slice + Ardennes Pate 20g
Evening - Ham 40g + Cheese 50g + Peas 100g + Rice 70g
Supper - Danone Yogurt Cherry 160g pot + [STRIKE]Finn Crisps 3 + L.C.Cheese[/STRIKE]
Extra - Milk 120ml + [STRIKE]Galaxy Hot Choc 15g[/STRIKE]
items not had .. cals etc adjusted

Cals 975 Carbs 104 Fat 33 Protein 60 Sugars 43 Fibre 11

Vertigo is horrible... worse than being at sea as any small movement is like being well and truly sozzled (drunk in other words!)
Much better now thanks.

Morning Emm - glad you finally got somewhere with your shoulder.

Have a good weekend

Great relief .. it's so hard getting someone to say what is actually wrong.

Decided to send the coat back as on fitting it on again as it's a long coat it doesn't hang very well. I find shorter sort of jacket length ones are much more suitable as altho' on most they will go to just below the waist on me they reach just below my bum which is quite okay.
Massage and ear candling..proper name being Hopi.. this afternoon

Sorry if I caused all the problems with TalkTalk :(

looking forward to hearing about the HOPI Emm - full details please :)

I'll post the info on your thread Nelli.

Sorry if I caused all the problems with TalkTalk :(

No need to apologise Bev.. I wasn't very happy with the idea in the first place as I said because of not having the ability to do what was required and tbh I'd rather keep what I have at the mo'.

Saturday 7th December 2013

Lovely day again altho' bitterly cold!
Window cleaner came which is marvellous.. beginning to wonder whether he was going to call anymore at all! He has only been about twice this year so as you can imagine the windows were getting mightily dirty. Under the circumstances I decided not to give him anything extra as a Christmas box... I know he has had a bad back but twice in a year is not on in my book.

Went out to lunch and then to Tesco for shopping. Bought some marzipan and icing to do the fruit cake I made which has proved to be far too sweet .. don't know why they always put such massive amounts of sugar in recipes and I thought that as I was measuring it in... What I intend to do is cut the top off to make it nice and flat and then use those bits to infill the space where I had taken a slice.. :D.. finish it off with the marzipan and icing so it wont be noticeable.. and then I shall take it to the place where I use to do line dancing to put in their raffle.
I shall enjoy doing that and making it look really good..snowman and all! :)

Letter from my energy company Eon to say that they are taking me off the tariff I was on and transferring me to another one. Haven't a clue what that's all about but as mine is thro' Age UK I shall give them a ring on Monday to see what they have to say. I think it's worth checking these things as these energy companies like pulling a fast one when they can methinks.

Something that is puzzling me... All these notifications that have been for donating to the food banks here in Norwich but nowhere does it actually say where to drop the items off! Tesco has had a lot of advertising and leaflets but none of it says where to go and there certainly isn't a box or anything in the store.

Quite a good day diet wise.
Breakfast - Oats 40g + Honey 1/2 Tblspn
Lunch - Morrison's Roast Chicken, Peas, Carrots and Mash
Snack - Chocolate app 30z + Danone Yogurt 160g
Supper - [STRIKE]Finn Crisps 2 + L.C.Cheese 1[/STRIKE] Bread 1 slice + Butter + Marmite 5g
Extra - Milk 240ml

Cals 1184 Carbs 186 Fat 41 Protein 80 Sugars 59 Fibre 11
