2015 and It's Now or Never!

Evening chica - scales are obviously being kinder to you than they are to me.
Mind you - I can't cope with your lbs number - I have to translate it st/lbs.
I can "think" in st/lbs or kilos - not straight lbs though.

Glad that aches & pains are sort of in control - but  to getting the appointment wrong.

I must admit that just pounds are not my first choice and I keep a printed page of weight conversions on my desk to refer to all the time.
Aches and pains are part of life for me now Bev as I expect they are for you with your bad back as well.... just have to grin and bare it don't we?!

Morning Emm - just dropped in to say hello and check how you are doing.

I am still busy busy at work and we are also trying to get the last bits of the house finally finished as it would be so nice if just for once it would ALL be done at the same time. Have to admit that I am also spending more time sitting in the garden than I really have time for, but we don't often get much of a chance so what the heck.

Hope all is well.

Afternoon Carol, .. as I always say..I'm bearing up under the strain!.
Thanks for asking anyway.. :D

Thursday 17th July 2014

Went out earlier than I usually would as the forecast said it was going to be very hot today.. it was very warm but there was a lovely slight breeze which made it just great.

Took some more things to the charity shop and then the dump to get rid of the old microwave... on to Tesco where again there was still only one mobility scooter and it was already being used. I am def going to complain to HO as it's not on! One of the assistants who knows me thro' my frequent visits there was quite upset about it as she says people get angry with her and it's not her fault.
Told them I would go and have a cuppa and if they would hold it for me which they did. I actually had one of the toasties in the Costa Café and a small decaf latte both of which were delish.

Had a really good shop and got back about 4pm.. surprisingly I didn't fall asleep when I got sat down.. makes a change.
Food been a little bit odd as I didn't feel like preparing anything this evening but carbs far too high.. must see to that tomorrow!

Breakfast - Liberte Strawberry Yogurt 100g + Oats 35g + Honey 1/2Tblspn
Lunch - Costa Cheese & Tom Toastie + Costa Latte small
Snack - Oatcakes 3
Dinner - Meatballs 1 + Ba.Beans 40g
Supper - Alpro Chocolate Dessert 125g
Extra - Milk SS 240ml

Emm - my scales are adjustable and have 3 setting: lbs, st/lbs, kgs
There is a little slidey button on mine on the underneath.
My friends slidey button is not so obvious and is hidden in the battery compartment.
It might be worth having a quick butchers if yours are the same.

I do have that option on mine I know but the pounds only one gives a more accurate reading... in other words a 13st 6lbs weight in the pounds reading might be 188.6lbs which is almost another pound IYKWIM! (13st 6.6lbs)

Friday 18th July 2014

Having been awake for most of the night I finally got some sleep from about 4 - 7am and apparently according to the weather news it was a very stormy time... amazingly when I do eventually sleep it seems I sleep thro' anything!

Had a very bad headache for most of the day... no doubt due to this heavy weather but am feeling a bit better now... apart from the fact that my legs and feet have swollen up quite a bit.
Only done the merest of any work today... always tomorrow.

Not like the 'real' thing but they were still nice.

As long as you enjoyed them Mary.. look nice anyway.

Lots of little jobs done which I'm pleased about as they soon mount up.

Very pleased at keeping my carbs lower today.

Evening Emm - sounds as though things are looking up for you!
Mary - what on earth are Paleo dumplings?

Ones made with almond flour not the usual white flour.:)

I use to make them with atora suet as well.Might have to see if I can find a suitable suet.

Dare I ask what's wrong with Atora suet on Paleo? I would have though animal fat would be allowed.

Sunday 20th July 2014

Very hot and horribly humid all day.. just didn't feel like cooking this evening and didn't feel hungry either so instead of the rainbow trout I had planned I switched to having a banana.
Haven't done anything all day... been so lazy it's untrue!
At least I've kept my carbs fairly low.

Breakfast - Liberte Peach Yogurt 100g
Lunch - Bacon 80g + Eggs hard boiled 1.5
Snack - Cherries 20 + Actimel Yogurt Drink 100g
Dinner - Banana 1
Supper - Digestive Biscuits 2
Extra - Milk SS 240ml

Cals 1121 Carbs 96 Fat 50 Protein 60 Sugars 68 Fibre 6

It's made up of 2 ingredients.

85% beef suet
15% wheat flour

I try and stay away from wheat flour as much as I can.:)

As Emm said - interesting - I've always though it was pure beef suet.
We alwasy keep beef and vegetable suet in as I have a few friends who like dumplings but are veggie.
I've just checcked and the veggie version is only 59% oil - so assume rest must be wheat flour.

This website says they have pure beef suet - http://www.godfreys.co/free-range-pure-beef-suet-6204-p.asp
Although it doesn't say that anything else has been added - it doesn't say that it hasn't

This website says it is 100% beef suet http://www.birdseedexpress.com/Pure-Suet
But as you can see it is for birds

And this one actually send you the fat - not shredded, up to you to do

Weight today 187lbs = 13st 5lbs.. a loss of 1.4lbs... not much but at least going the right way.

Not quite as hot and was going to take my drive to the Blue Boar Tesco but when I got into my car and started to drive I realised my back wasn't as good as I thought so went to the one nearby. Costa Café for a toastie but they didn't have any.. apparently trouble with their fridge ... had a pannini instead with a medium latte. By the time I got back indoors it was really hot again and was pleased to get into the cool.
Trying to get into tackling these sewing jobs without much success I might add!

Well done on the loss Emm.
By my standards 1.4 lbs is positively hare pace.
And as you say, a loss is a loss!

Thanks Bev... as they say..every little helps!

Unfortunately my resolve to keep the carbs lower hasn't lasted very long and as I again just couldn't face cooking this evening I just had another sandwich.
Logged the pannini and am surprised that it was 434 calories and it was only a small one so I've adjusted that by not logging the latte coffee.
Buying the WW bread was a waste of money as the cals/ carbs per slice is 85/15 Whereas the hovis brown that I usually have is 75/13!..and the WW tastes like cr$p!

Breakfast - Liberte Yogurt + Banana
Lunch - Cheese & Ham Pannini + Decaf Latte medium
Snack - WW Malt Bread 34g + L.C. Cheese + Ham 25g
Dinner - WW Malt Loaf 34g + Butter 6g + Cheese 24g

I know there are people who will defend WW products but most of the things I've ever tried of the WW branded stuff taste like cr$p imo.
I also find their branded stuff very expensive. But It's obviously a great marketing tool for them.

Absolutely...and to think I used to buy their yogurts until I looked more closely and found the dreaded Aspartame.. no wonder I always ended up with a dicky tum!

A lot cooler today thank goodness!
Doctor phoned this afternoon and apparently my cholesterol is very high.. asked what the reading was to which he said 7 and then added but that doesn't matter!? Rather odd thing to say methinks..after all there has to be some way of measuring these things. He also went on to say that I def had a heart attack but I pointed out to him again that the specialist at the hospital had made it quite clear to me that it def was not! .. :sigh:

Spent some time sorting out a "healthy" food list and changed my MFP readings to include sat fat instead of just fat... supposed to be not more than 20g per day for women. So now I'm on a salt free, fat free, sugar free and low carb diet..

With all that my cals count is quite low today although tbh I just haven't felt like eating today anyway.

Wednesday 23rd July 2014

Thought it was going to be a bad day when I first got up but things improved greatly and I was able to do lots of tidying up and sorting stuff even tho' it's been another hot day.

Spent ages trying to top up my "new" mobile phone without success so I'll have to try another route... I'll get the hang of this thing one day! :sigh:

I put some vinaigrette oil dressing on my fish last night and it must have been off as it upset my stomach for ages.. even this morning I still had a slight rumbling. All's well this evening as I used Thousand Island instead which I much prefer.

Very pleased with myself food-wise and the scales have shown quite a drop... determined to keep this up and hopefully help reduce my cholesterol as well.
I've also reduced my calorie intake as recommended by MFP.

Breakfast - Liberte Strawberry Yogurt 100g
Lunch - WW Bread 28g + Bacon 67g + Sauce 5ml
Snack - Brazil Nuts 30g
Dinner - R.Trout fillet + Cabbage 85g + Carrot 80g + Th.Isl. FF Dressing 20ml
Supper - Actimal Yogurt Drink 100g

Sorry you've had a dicky tum

Hmmmmmm - don't think Thousand Island will help much on the cholesterol front Emm.
Check the label - as I suspect it will be quite high in saturated fat
