2015 and It's Now or Never!

Saturday 15th November 2014

Slow start due to all the usual reasons but C&W music was really good today which kept my mind off it.

Sorted things in my sideboard and found some very little pocket sized diaries from 1984 with a lot of info about when I did my GCSE courses... very interesting. Also a couple of cameras.. the film type.. and a little box of note papers and envelopes which can go to the charity shop.

Too tired to make a proper meal tonight so just had another portion of the steak and onion pie I made heated up in the microwave.

It's too bad you live so far -- a local teacher is collecting unwanted cameras for a school project. I have an Advantix I can donate.

I have come across things like your 1984 diaries. I've been reading through them -then throwing them out. They won't be on any interest to anyone except me and I don't want to leave a mess for my children to sort through.

I agree with those sentiments Mel and hope I can tear myself away from them soon but at the mo' having depleted my hoarded stock it will have to be for another time I'm afraid.

Quite a good day all round.
Steamed a load of vegetables and put grated cheese over the top for dinner and then had a mini Xmas pud and cream for dessert.

Sat eagerly waiting for tonights episode of Downton Abbey and hadn't realised that it had finished! ..

My DH and I bemoaned the "No Downton" evening, too. There will be a Christmas Day episode! :)

My DH and I bemoaned the "No Downton" evening, too. There will be a Christmas Day episode! :)

It seemed like such a short series this time plus a very peculiar sort of ending.
I shall have to remember to put it on record seeing as I shall be away then.

Been a real funny old day today.. just couldn't get moving this morning I felt so dopey from after effects of a lot of meds yesterday. Then off to dentist for check-up this afternoon. Nothing amiss and only needed a clean. I do get rather irritated with the constant reminders to clean my teeth properly with the usual demonstrations ... I suffer from a lot of plaque build up despite the fact that I clean my teeth at the very least twice a day and sometimes twice at night too because when I wake in the night I have such a bad taste in my mouth I like to give my teeth and tongue a good clean then. I also have the dental cleaning kit which I use regularly but you wouldn't think so the amount of build up I get so quickly.

Another early night for me .. but at least I was up fairly early this morning.

I too get horrendous plaque build up on my lower front teeth and no amount of brushing and scraping keeps is away.
My dentist says some people suffer, other don't - it's just the luck of the draw.

Sorry about the gain Emm - you and me both. Mine was almost 3.5 lbs though

Morning Em,

Have you tried using a mouth rinse to reduce plaque?

I complained to my dentist about his hygienist being so "critical and chastising" about my dr gal hygiene. He is a private dentist and I told him that he needed to sort her -- because she will cost him business. People won't put up with being belittled when they're paying for a service. He took my advice -- and he asked for patient feedback and she was "eased out" - a lot patients didn't like the way she spoke to them. He still asks for patient feedback.

He also sends reminder postcards (to schedule your cleaning and check up) and pus staff phones, texts or emails (per patient choice) the day before an appointment to remind you. I had told him that American Dentists do these things.

I remember one of Minimins members called Minus four..(Alice) who was a dentist saying that Bev and I was quite relieved as I have always tried to keep my teeth as clean as possible... flippin' nuisance isn't it?!

As for the gain I am at least managing to keep sort of within the range bearing in mind I.m practically the same now as I was at the beginning of the year after all my hard work! :sigh:

I have tried using mouthwashes Mel but it really doesn't make any difference and tbh I hate the taste of them and I have tried several different ones.

It's my dentist who does all the yapping on about how I should do the brushing and he's the sort that you can't get a word in edgeways anyway... I just let it go in one ear and out the other.. :D .. and there's always a timely reminder of the next check-up.

Tuesday 18th November 2014

Out to lunch at Morrisons which was very nice.

I noticed as I was walking out a woman that looked quite smart who was sitting at a nearby table had taken gum out of her mouth and proceeded to stick it under the table top.. how can people be so disgusting!

Having plenty of time to use up as I had a doctors appointment at 3.40pm I went to Tesco and had a latte coffee, found a nice comfy seat and had a good doze.. hope I didn't snore.. not many in at the time which was good.

Saw a very nice lady doctor who was very concerned about my situation and said she is going to get all my notes out and have a good look at them before deciding exactly what to do but no doubt will be arranging for me to have some sort of investigative procedure done. I feel very assured that she will do something anyway.

Got home and as usual these days my outings make me very tired so had a couple of hours snooze in bed..all things quite good and counts gone well too.

You and me both Emm. I've battled all year to stay in some sort of range but yesterday was depressing.
Stupid things is though that just over half of the bloat had gone this morning.
Stupid scales - and stupid me for hopping on every day. But I'm a committed scaley dail hopper.
Of should I just be committed to the nuthouse? :8855:

Hi Em,

I'm glad the doctor will look over your notes. ;)

At least you are at target..or near enough Bev.. I'm still well over 28lbs or more over and that's on my decided target. By statistics it's another 119lbs on top of that which I know I will never be and even in my young years ever reached. I once got down to 133lbs (9st7lbs) but looked and felt very ill and drawn. 147lbs (10st7lb) has always been a happy weight but I'd willing settle for the 154 if only I could get there!

Hi Emm,

I'm glad the doctor will look over your notes. ;)

Morning Mel, yes I'm really pleased at that but in my usual very negative and pessimistic way I found myself this morning as I was laying in bed wondering whether her caring and attentive attitude was instead rather condescending... ... but that's me! .. and not a nice attitude I know so I had to shake myself quite firmly and not start going into that "poor me" syndrome again... I need a right kick up the jacksie!! .. :asskick:

Wednesday 19th November 2014

In quite good form today and got moving much earlier than usual.
Home help came this afternoon so a nice chinwag for five minutes was great. She always has a bit of a laugh at my determination to recycle as much as possible and tries to get me to just dump things in the bin like the paint pots outside my front door awaiting my inspection for what to do with them.

Made a lovely rich fruit cake which has turned out very well.
Unfortunately MFP's recipe section is not working at all well since they introduced their new system which is a real nuisance... won't stop me from eating it tho'!

Thursday 20th November 2014

Hairdo today which was lovely.
Went to Tesco for a few odds and ends and bought a pack of snack sized pork pies and had them for my tea plus some ham and chutney.
Counts pretty good as well.

Got my new kitchen scales delivered to day and they even have temperature and clock on them.

Evening Em,

Your home help sounds very sensible -- bin it!

I'd go with "caring" not "condescending" -- when in doubt, give people the benefit of it! ;)

Is your hairstyle a revamp or maintenance style?

I saw a young woman with lavender stripes in her hair today and it actually looked really good. (Not for me)

You're so right on the "caring" Mel... I think this pessimistic outlook is all due to my childhood being as we all had to look after ourselves from quite an early age.. parents not being what parents should be..and it's very hard to shake off but I am learning even if it is a bit late in the day!

The hair thing reminds me of my younger years when I used to have blonde stripes and also had a hair piece attachment which was really great and I looked the bees knees even if I say so myself.
I tend to stick to my usual style which is typical of my age group.

Friday 21st November 2014

Good day... received parcel of new clothes and some sparkly sandals. 2 out of the 6 tops were okay and the 2prs sandals fitted lovely as well.

Been very busy for most of the day and I was up really early too so any time now methinks I shall be flopping into my bed.. but not until I've had a shower.

Counts gone a bit OTT which often happens if I'm up early..
I've added on some "exercising" such as housework, showering etc. as those ordinary things for most take a lot of effort for moi.

Saturday 22nd November 2014

Busy day sorting more paper work and odds and ends. Put some photos into my photo collection box and whiled away a few moments looking thro' some which were from when my family were young.. as always happens on these occasions I started to shed a few tears as the memories started to flow so had to pack them away pronto.
It did have the affect of making me feel I wanted to start sending things like birthday and xmas cards at least.

Had a delish evening meal of salmon and salad and a slice of my home made rich fruit cake I made a few days ago and it's the best one I've done too.

You hair looks very good (quite thick, too) -- if you stand at an angle or have a bright light on you (and not use the flash) you won't get they light spot.

Are the sandals for your cruise? Be careful -- Kally broke her foot by wearing flimsy (non-supportive) shoes. Cute and be damaging.
I need to do some housework exercise!

My aunt used to shop for birthday cards every January. She would address the envelopes, sign the cards and write the date it needed to be listed where the stamp goes. Then she had them in order in a letter rack or file. She'd check her cards every Sunday - she'd add a personal note, photo, newspaper article, etc sometimes before sealing and posting. She never missed a birthday! So, efficient and thoughtful. I should employ her system - as a tribute if nothing else.
