25 stone to 19 stone in 8 months.

Excellent response hun - this forum is a guilt free zone! :D

What's the plan for the weekend?

The plan was aquafit, chair aerobics, and a one mile walk. The most I can manage is the chair-aerobics, top half of body only, and weight lifting :-(

However, my lungs are full of infection again so I am wheezing and using Ventolin again. Started on a new course of AB yesterday - 49 days of doxycycline this time. April marks the third year anniversary of when I contracted this apparently life long bacterial lung infection. I have an appt with the chest specialist on 14th Apr. On top of that I have a sprain in my right leg and am hopping not walking.

The new plan is to sit on my bum, maybe drag a mop across the floor, play FB Scrabble, make another batch of lentil/potato/leek soup.

The good news is that I am down another pound to 327.

I have no idea how many calories each portion contains. I don't even know how many ml in each portion. I used 1/3 of a 500g bag of lentils, 2/3 of a 500g bag of potatoes, a whole leek, a whole onion, herbs and spices and stock cubes. I'm guestimating each portion as 200. Maybe it's only 100.

You can plug it into My Fitness Pal as a recipe and I think it works out the calories for you.

So sorry to hear you're feeling rough, though! I wonder if it's something in the air, I've been using my inhaler lots more than usual, but thought it was my lungs clearing. Get better soon hun.

Hope you're feeling better soon Helena - be kind to yourself. Sending (((hugs)))

Yep, that's what I do. You put in the number of servings the recipe has, and it works out how many calories are in each serving. I have tons of recipe books, and I have notes on the pages that say things like "MFP version = 1 tbsp olive oil instead of 2" and stuff like that. Takes some time to put all of the ingredients in (for recipes on websites, it matches the ingredients automatically... or tries to), but it's worth it. And when you make it again, you don't have to worry about putting all of the ingredients in again. Just click on "my recipes," find it from where you put it in before, and log 1 serving.

For what it's worth, I've been doing this a long time, and my guesses are still way off when I try to estimate calories. I don't trust my own ideas of how many calories are in a plate of food, or how many grams are in, say, a slice of cheese. Even after all this time, what I think is 300 cal is closer to 500, and what I think is 25 grams is more like 40.

I hope your injury mends quickly, Helena!

Lungs no better and so I have no puff to do anything except a little light weight training.

On the plus side, lost another 2lb. This has all become suspiciously "too easy".

Am at 325, so that is a loss of 10lb in 10 days.

After 30 years of yo yo dieting, struggling, crying, beating myself up, suddenly, dieting is easy. I'm now at my lowest weight for at least 5 years.

Let's see how long I can keep this up before I crash & burn back to giant Galaxy bars and 1500-calorie pizzas.

Speaking of which, I have now decided that on a Saturday afternoon I can have a treat ~ absolutely anything I want, up to 1,500 calories. This might be a pizza, fish and chips, a chocolate binge, a family sized Co Op lasagne, cakes, Southern Fried Chicken .... anything.

This week my fancy led me to two pots of Coronation chicken and two tiger rolls. Took them home, snuggled onto the sofa with my booty and a mug of tea, expecting to be eating in ecstasy, but found the CC very disappointing, and threw away half of the second pot. "Treated" myself instead to 2oz cheddar and a pat of butter, using up the half a roll I had left. The cheese didn't taste of much, though it was supposedly extra mature. Have I lost my tastebuds, or has food lost its flavour?

The only food ecstasy I've felt is from eating my home made lentil soup! My goodness if you told Helena of the year 2000 that she'd be eating lentil and liking it, she would not have believed you! She would have been eating a giant box of Maltesers washed down with 2 litres of Coke.

helena your a star you make me chuckle x x x

It's mad isn't it, but our taste buds really do change - and portion sizes! I'm eating everything off a side plate now, and it's filling me up fine (most of the time lol).

And 10lb in 10 days sounds right, nothing suspicious about it - us WEMITTS often have big losses like that until things plateau out a bit :D. So glad things are working out for you - but hope you get over this nasty bug you've got soon x

Hi ladies and thanks for dropping by.

Susie there isn't any chance of me getting over this condition. In 4 weeks time, I'll have had this lung infection for three years. I'm on my 4th course of antibiotics this year, and this course is 49 days, so by May I will have been on them for 3 months solid. It's not good. I think I'm going to have this illness for the rest of my life.

Still, no point moping ~ medical science is quite advance in broncho-dilators, I am sure they will sort me out enough meds to let me breathe enough to exercise.

morning helena
hope your feeling a little better hun what are you up to today x

Hiya

My health took a turn for the worse and I was awake much of the night unable to breathe properly. Ended up breaking down in tears and just sitting up in bed, sobbing. No one to phone, no one to speak to. I was totally wretched.

Forced myself to come downstairs so I could let the cleaner in and do what I can sitting at my desk.

Felt so traumatised and sorry for myself, lonely, scared, thoroughly fed up with being ill, that I feel right off the wagon. Oh well that is today buggered up totally.

:-(

Back on track tomorrow.

I'm so sorry you had a horrible night, Helena, I really hope you feel a bit better soon. You've been doing so well with the weight loss, I hope you can get back on track tomorrow. :) xx
