4 weeks running challenge

5 miles of intervals :eek: The.Heat! OMG

* Jenniecakes - 40.6/60 - 19.4 to go *
* Opal_lil - 19.5/45 - 25.5 to go *
* KentCat - 11/32 - 21 to go *
* Steph92 - 4/20 - 16 to go *
* bumblebee1990 10/20 - 10 to go *
* Liquoricet - 11/35 - 24 to go *
* Clavicles - 36.6/80 - 43.4 to go *

When you interval train, how do you actually do it?? Do you have a watch or distance etc? I'm slightly scared of it lol

It's with running group on a track. So take tonight's session, which was more of an endurance one.. 4 Lap warm up. 400m (1 Lap) hard 200m recovery jog. X 4 then 2 laps hard x 2 with 200 m recovery. Then one mile- 4 laps at threshold pace. 4 laps cool down. The Session changes all the time. It is tough but we are grouped by ability, so my group are all running the same pace, which helps push through. It really helps doing speed work.

I'm hoping to start doing something like this, might have to do it on a treadmill though so i have an idea of distances.

You could do or you could just go by time. Sometimes we do speed work where we jog until we hear the whistle, and then it's one minute hard followed by a recovery jog and then repeat!

Thats a good idea. :)
Thinking about doing a 5k park run tomorrow morning.
And then maybe 6 miles on sunday hopefully. So will start intervals mid-week I think

Squeezed in an easy 3.5miles this morning as we are off to the MIL for the night.. legs felt heavy though and like I was running in a steam room, so humid :/

They are hopefully starting Parkruns where I live, I cant wait. We have a beautiful park that would be perfect for it :)

Ours is through the woods, but so long as it isn't too muddy I don't mind.

Finally had childcare so got out for a run (not been since Sunday). That felt like hard work.

I have most likely failed in this challenge!

Vertigo last week and then the cheeky addition of a 10k on Wednesday now has derailed my best intentions. Still running but there is no way I am going to get 20 miles done by next Tuesday!! xx

You've not failed! I think anyone would struggle with those 2 put in the way. Plus concentrate on your 10k now, you don't want to over do it before! Kind of wishing I'd signed up for the great south run now. Really fancying it lol
Althought might look for one in South Wales so I can make a weekend of it.

I'm back running with the club tomorrow night, so it'll be a cheeky 4/5 miles then, and again on Thursday, so hoping over the weekend I'll smash the 60 miles into next week :)

You all do! But I go on holiday next tuesday. Accomodated for that though :)
Too excited to get myself to Egypt!! If I could I would run all the way there right now lol
