50 shades of grey books

Ive read all three books. I think there could be a fourth in the pipeline. I really enjoyed them. Im now reading "Bared to you" by Syliva Day. Its on the similar line. :)

P.S If anyone has a kindle and wants to read them, message me your email i can send them to ya so ya dont have to buy 'em :)

I read this back when it was masters of the universe and ana and mr grey were bella and Edward.... Thought it was very very poorly written but with some potential.

It was then released as 50 shades and I considered giving it another go in the hopes that in the transition from twilight fan fiction to original story it had been edited and what not. I patiently waited for my friend to finish so I could borrow hers when she told me to not bother since it was the same with only minor changes. Good for el James, she's making a bucket load of money selling a story that until a few months ago was free on the net.

Really not my cup of tea, found the sex scenes boring and not at all shocking HOWEVER I can really see the appeal to a lot of people. It's very easy to read, takes very little concentration and as a lot of people have already said is a bit of tongue in cheek fun.

Oh and I second the suggestion to check out literotica, some fab stories on there if you want a bit of a thrill every now and again ;-P

I'm reading it on the Kindle at the moment. I'm currently 73% through it and it is a real struggle to read. I find it really poorly written, as mentioned previously, she uses the same adjectives over and over again, the same terms over and over again, if I read one more time about the sexy way Christian's trousers hang low on his hips I will fall asleep.

I find erotica more effective when they don't go into too much detail and leave some aspects of what's going on to your own imagination, I always find the power of imagination works best in writing, but 50 Shades goes into SO much detail and the writer's imagination is not as good as mine for what I would like to see so I have found it in no way erotic or shocking.

I'm just starting to see a little bit of a storyline developing (shame it's taken me to read 73% of the book to get there) so if this comes to anything I might consider reading the next two books, but as it stands at the moment I won't be bothering with them.

The Anita Blake series is so much better and this rubbish is keeping me away from it!! :)

y'all need to read some Anne Rice, I read one of her "erotica" books once, well, I got about 5 pages in before I had to put it down, it was way too steamy for me.. and I'm a bloke!!

Yaaaaay another Anita fan :) 50 shades is tripe lol

dead jealous of her fortune..wish I wrote that cr*p.
It was annoying reading it. Inner goddess doing the salsa..the constant "THERE" eugh..
I can't believe all the fuss..why? it isn't half as good as say fanny hill.

I bought it cheaply online because it was dubbed the mummy porn.. well there was nothing about mums ..she was a virgin uni graduate with no kids/responsibilities.
It wasn't sexy either. Rubbish book. OVERRATED.

lol put it down to do what

Well I am still absoloutely loving it, I am 3/4 the way through the 2nd one which I bought Sunday and have bought the third one today ready for when I finish the 2nd.
It may not be that well written but some of us aren't that well read as we are all different and I find it sexy in more ways than the sex!
Am liking the sound of some of the other stuff mentioned though.

Sorry, that made me ROFL! Porn *for* mummies, not porn about them, sadly. It's a lousy description for the genre, regardless.

I agree. as a mum it does nothing to me.

I'm not that well read but I could still see it was badly written. oh well, if you enjoy it then good i suppose...............

I started it and just found the writing horrendous so just couldn't continue with it. Agree with someone else who commented on the inner goddess stuff which I just thought was cringeworthy. Have read mills and boon aged 12 which were better written than this. However that's just my view and I totally respect the fact that she has captured a huge audience so good on her. Just not for me but I suppose you can't please all the people.

I can't believe the author has managed to stretch this utter dross to three books.
I only read the first and for the amount of story there was it could have been a pamphlet!

Some of the posts in this thread have really made me lol!!

Not sure why some people are getting so angry and bent out of shape at these books, the fact they've been a huge hit, and the authors success??

I get that they're not to everyones taste, but they've gotten people reading that normally wouldn't bother, so thats not a bad thing surely?

I've said previously, I loved reading them, they were a good light hearted read with a gripping storyline! Not sure how something can be badly written if somebody enjoys reading them??

As I've said, each to their own, just not sure sure that they need ripping apart or the author needs belittling quite so much??
