A diary of a slimming world consultant

I got the call..... and I got it!! Can't believe it, still in shock! And I am at head office for days 1 & 2 on the 10th & 11th May too! So see you there MrsE2004! Excited! Keeping everything crossed for you shanning75!

Yay, congratulations Hun. Do you know where you will stay? It's all happening so fast, but I'm so excited!

Shanning you will be fine. I was worried but they only look for really large debts and ccjs and bankruptcy so I'm sure you'll be fine Hun. Everything crossed for you.

My consultant said everyone tends to stay at the Derbyshire and it does look nice, £104 for 2 nights as ill go up on the thurs after work ready for the early start on Friday. Ill be catching the train up.

I'm thinking of getting a train up too on the Thursday. The premier inn looks cheaper so thinking of staying there. Not sure yet though. Looking forward to meeting you Cheryl! Xx

The Derbyshire looked like it had a nice pool, was it as nice as it looked or am I being fooled by the shiny pictures on the website?
I never got to see the pool!
The website pictures look better than it actually is!!
It just needs a lick of paint and a bit of modernising and it will be fine.
The rooms are clean and tidy, it's just simply the decor that's outdated.

Don't get the train girls! You need a car for the amount of stuff you have to take and then extra stuff you have to bring back with you! You get your scales and PDA plus boxes of posters, etc.
Car share with someone local to you- they will tell you this at pre training anyway but thought I'd mention it before you go booking trains!

And stay at the Premier Inn- the Derbyshire is more money and nowhere near as nice. Plus the Premier Inn has the Brewers Fayre attached to it, which is where everyone has dinner and socialises so its better. Trust me!

What's the dress code whilst on the training days Dougal? Is it business attire? Not that I'm going, just nosey!

Thanks for the advice! Think I better drive then and stay at the premier inn. What u going to do Cheryl? x

Smart casual- so I wore black trousers and a nice top, other people were dressed similar.

Lol you sure? Haha!! Nowt wrong in being nosey!

oh I'm very nosey indeed :) I like to fully research anything before I jump in though so this thread is really useful for me to pick up tips and info in case I do decide to take it up.

If I did decide to do it I'd have to get loads of new clothes - none of my old work clothes fit me any more, all too big! A good problem to have in a way but gutting that all my nice suits are going to have to go to charity - can't say I'm a fan of clothes shopping either but it's much easier now I'm not always looking for extra large!

Oh, thanks for that Dougal1983. PurpleClouds I think I will opt for the Premier Inn too, but I wont book anything until I have been to pre training on 28th - when is yours? Hopefully I can car share with someone as I am not the most confident of drivers - happy with local and short not 3hrs lol. Also we only have one car so would mean my husband and 3 kids are car-less from Thursday - Saturday night. Not normally a problem but they have a few things planned etc. I will see what happens after next sunday.

I was going to ask about what to wear, and I agree be as nosey as you like lol.

I'm still so excited, I feel like a child ha ha ha. xxx

My pre training is on 25th. I'm not keen on the long drive either but the train journey from here is over 5 hours so maybe car would be better. I know what u mean about feeling like a child!!
Dougal, have you started your group yet? How are you doing?

Car is better because of the amount of stuff you have to bring back but you'll find all that out at pre training :p

My group starts 29th April so not to go now eek!

I will actually be back up at H/O the week after you lot for days 3 & 4, by then I'll have done 3 groups.

It's a lot to take in, and quite overwhelming but totally worth it- I'm taking over a group so I currently go there to help out and it's such a lovely feeling when you get a new member come in who's desperate and goes out determind.

Ambrina, I'm happy to hear you have taken the big step of joining SW but I'm not sure this is the right thread to get the kind of help you seem to be looking for. This thread is about people who are thinking about becoming, or are in the process of becoming, SW consultants and people share their experiences about this process on the thread.

I'm only a recent member of minimins so I'm not entirely sure which area to direct you to, but I would say the best thing to do would be to give your consultant a call for some support and advice as perhaps you've not quite got the hang of the plan.

Don't be too quick to blame the carbs - read and understand the plan, follow it 100% and TRUST it will work, don't sabotage yourself mentally by worrying about eating carbs. They are not evil :D I eat them every day and lose weight, in fact I've lost 2 stone so far. I've been on no carb/low carb diets in the past and whilst I may have lost a few lbs initially, I was totally miserable, craving them madly and not able to keep it up for more than 6 weeks at most. I've been following the SW plan now for 26 weeks, extremely happily.

Also if you are weighing yourself at home between groups then try not to do that if you can as this can sabotage your weight loss, your weight will naturally fluctuate so it could give you a false view of your progress.

SW definitely works if you follow the plan so maybe there's just a few things you need to tweak and your consultant can help you to do that so call them, it's what they are there for.

Hope that is of some help - I'm sure the other ladies will jump in if they have a better idea of which thread might help or have anything to add.

I completely agree with emmylc. Follow the plan 100% and trust it will work. Very wise words. And like emmylc I too eat carbs everyday and have lost over 2.5 stones. Make sure you are writing everything down that you eat in your food journal. That way if things don't go the way you hope then you consultant can help find out where he/she can help you.

Hi everyone!

Have just finished reading all your entries from start to finish...so glad I found this as it has given me a great insight to where I'm headed so thank you all for sharing. I had my pre-training on Saturday which was great, I was on my own for it and met my TD for the first time, she is lovely. I had my interview last may so it's been a bit of a wait to get this far and I can hardly contain my excitement(though I'll have to to get through all that reading!) I will be at HO for training on the 10/11th may, anyone else there then?

Hi Copperpenny,
What was pre-training like? Ive got mine on Sunday - eeek!
Im up at HO for days 1 & 2 on 10/11 May too. Purpleclouds is up there too then. I think I will stay in the Premier Inn as posted above, but im not booking anything until after pre-training as hoping I can car share (not keen on the long drive, although I'm a big girl so if I need to drive I will). I think I will be going up on the Thursday evening as you need to be there for 9am on the Friday!
Do you need to take lots of stuff with you to Days 1 & 2. Im so excited. xxx

This waiting game is killing me. I should find out anyday now, trouble is the longer i wait the more worried i get especially with credit checks. Oh well its outta my hands i suppose

Everything crossed for you but I am sure you have nothing to worry about. Keep us posted. I'm at HO on the 10th and 11th too like Cheryl said. Excited!!! x

Hmm a before picture - that would be the tricky bit if I ever decided to actually go for it, I seem to have deleted all the best pictures (for obvious reasons at the time!) and only have a couple left but they don't look that 'fat'. I have only lost 2st with SW though it's 2.5st since the photos were taken, when I get to target it would be 2.5st with SW (3st since photos taken) - just doesn't seem enough of a loss to be a credible consultant.

What kind of stuff do they ask for on the application form? Also do you need to take a CV with you or does the application form cover that kind of info?

I have "only" lost 2st 7lb (3st 7lb since last photo) and am at target. I also worried it wasnt a credible loss to become a consultant but it is an achievement initself that you should be very proud of xx

I dont have any good before pictures, i never got in the position to have my picture taken. I have a found a very old one from 14 years ago which best represents my journey. And one from my sisters wedding in 2011.

No CV needed just a passion for Slimming World xx

Sorry its been a while since i have posted. Its been a busy few weeks :D

Had day 1 & 2 training on the 11th&12th of May. Stayed at the Derbyshire, yes a little more expensive but i used laterooms.com to book and got a good deal. Also, if like me, you cant do without internet, you get free WiFi.
A little dated but reasonably quiet and just across the road from the Premier Inn and Brewers Fayre.
I agree if possible use your a car or car share, came home with alot more than i went with lol
Everyone was lovely and very friendly, down to the security guard who kept opening the door to let us out with our scales and laptops :)
The food is lovely and the toilets.... all i can say is WOW lol

Try and make room for your stock delivery, my living room looked like a Slimming World convention for a few days lol

I take over my group on the 7th of May, not long now.

Spent Saturday sorting out visuals & yesterday leafleting in the sun.

Good Luck to everyone who has decided to embark on this journey and fingers crossed for those of you still waiting to hear xx
