A wobble.....

Hi there, I'm mid-way through week 8 and I'm really starting to get fed up with this diet.I think its partly due to going out for best friend's leaving do last night, and everyone else was eating and drinking. I was the sensible one with the sparkling water and the car :),and today I have really struggled and feeling sorry for myself.I'm hoping this passes soon...I'm going out for a walk now, which will hopefully help, but does anyone have any other tips please?
Thanks x

Hi Jazzy - sorry to hear you're feeling a bit fed up! I tend to get like that most weekends - being on LL has really changed my weekends, previously they were all about eating and drinking and socialising - and now I'm having to find other stuff to do. That in itself isn't too bad, what does sometimes get to me is the feeling I am "inflicting" a duller social life on my OH and friends. Don't get me wrong, they couldn't be more supportive, but it has definitely changed our lives quite radically really.

For me I just have to fill my time at the weekends as much as possible - if I stop and think about it, I can get quite miserable, so instead I go shopping, go for a walk, read a book, come on here, give myself a manicure, have a lovely bath etc etc.

Hope you feel brighter tomorrow, and I know it's been said a million times, but the best medicine for when you're feeling a bit down is to focus on how well you've done, and go and try all those clothes on that used to be tight, and see how baggy they are now - never fails to cheer me up! xx

hi there
hope you are feeling better about it today.
i got fed up about week 13 - but only for a bit, am fine again now.
stick at it - its such a short time in the big scale of things

6 months out of your life, its nothing really and for massive benefits!

Thanks girls.I feel much better today :).I was exhausted yesterday after a very late night on Friday, which I think contributed to being fed up.However I had a great sleep last night and feel much brighterthis morning. I am about to go and work in the garden, which never fails to de-stress me.Thanks for the moral support x

Glad you are feeling better JC .... I think around week 8 is a common time to be having a bit of a wobble! To be honest like many I too find the weekends hard, and even tho I am on week 17 I have still struggled this weekend ..... even tho I know I am going onto RTM on Wed so only have a few days left ... but I always manage to keep my head down and get through it and by then the weekend is over and things become easier again!

Well done your losses ... you are doing great!

Thanks Susianna, You're right about the week 8 thing.I think its partly the monotony of the diet and it being the weekend too. Also felt a bit left out when everyone was eating and drinking on Friday .
However Iam doing this for me-for my health so I'm around longer for OH and kids, and also I want to look good again.I'm tired of being inhibitited and embarassed by how much weight I've gained over the years. So onwards and downwards xx

Hiya JC....sorry to hear that you were having a little wobble recently. Its a testing time isnt it sometimes?? Empowering to us once we overcoming our jitters but a real battle and a pain in the bottom when in the midst of one.
I had terrrible wobbles around week 6/7 but am finding this week very okay so far.
I have to say that DaisyDoll had a brilliant suggestion above re sorting your wardrobe. Thats what I do too. I get all my clothes out that I want to fit into and start trying them all on. Its truly inspiring to find that things that would not go near me last year are almost hanging off of me now. 2 hours into the 'trying on' sesh and most cravings have gone.
Glad that you are feeling better hun. Lets keep going and focussed. We are gonna get the weight off and we are gonna keep the weight off.
xx

Don't let it stop your social life

That's what I say. If you do that, what will happen when you reach your goal?
You'll pick back up on your social life andsoon beback to square one.
I think the only way LL will work permanently is to build the thinking into your life forever. It's not a diet that will finish and everything goes back the same. It's an opportunity to re-evaluate your relationship with food and plan your strategy for life.
I kept my social life going throughout because I thoughtit would take a year to lose my excess weight - and you can't put life on hold for that long and as you said, it also affects your family, friends and people around you if you do that. Is that fair? What do you learn?
try and join in, but have your packs and drinks when others eat and drink. You can do it and most people take no notice apart from thinking you are amazing!
Give it a try. It's not about denial. Don't punish yourself. Enjoy the experience, it'll change your whole outlook. xxx

Thanks Lisa, i'm glad you've got over your wobble too!Funnily enough I wasn't having cravings as such, I just felt so fed up with the diet.I have got some new clothes in smaller sizes and I'm gonna keep trying them on. I also compared my month by month photos this am (not for publication :)) and I see a huge difference. These things keep me going xx( as well as you lot that is)

Hi SB, In a better place today I think! Like you say I have continued to go out for meals/drinks with friends so far,as I have always done.Just felt a bit sorry for myself and a bit emotional on Saturday.MY friend was leaving work and normally we would have had too much to eat and drink together!!So I think there was a wee bit of regret there.Still I'll still see her,and there will be oher nights out ;)

Hi SB - your pics are amazing by the way!!
I know you're right, and I am still seeing my friends, although we tend to meet up for shopping or spa days at the mo. To be quite honest, most of my friends are total p*ss-heads, not to put too fine a point on it, as was I, it has to be said! While they are totally supportive, if they've sunk a few wines, I'm not sure how long that would last. Also, I went to a wedding a few weeks ago, and as everyone got gradually more and more drunk, it irritated the life out of me - probably mainly because I know I was at least that irritating before, if not more so! So, for me right now, I am choosing to meet my friends in non-drinking situations, and I'm not sure I'm ready to change that just yet, although I know I will have to at some point.

Jazzy - really glad you're back on form again, good luck this week :) xx

Sorry girls

I DIDN'T MEAN TO BE SO BOSSY!!
It's just that I feel so passionate about the change LL has made for me. I know it's different for everyone.
I used to drink a lot too. Every night I would have wine (often a bottle) sometimes gin and tonic as well or instead. Now I don't even like it - that was unexpected ! Amazing.

Jazzy - sorry to hear you had a wobble, but delighted you're back on track again. Hang in there as it is easier to stick with abstinence that to lapse and try and get back to it. Use whatever mental aides you can find to beat down that rebellious child and replace with a rational adult. Good luck for the rest of Foundation. xx

if it's any consolation, I have been back on food since november '08 and went out on sunday and was persuaded to have my first alcoholic drink in over three years. I ended up having three glasses of wine (used to manage three bottles!) and have been feeling miserable, lethargic, huge headache and dehydrated for the past 48 hours. Trust me, you can have PLENTY of fun without having to drink or even eat. And the hangovers are definitely no fun!

As a result I've done no exercise for two days as I've felt so rough but going to get back to the gym this evening. I used to be a huge drinker but now I'd rather preserve my liver, remember what happened the previous evening and maintain my figure!! Oh, and avoid evil hangovers too lol xxx

Me too Rachel

Don't really enjoy the drink now. I was so lookiing forward to it. What a surprise. Just have the odd glass occasionally now.
I can't believe it's the same me.
