Advice pls on wedding dress price on ebay

big bear

A bear on a mission!
Hi

I wish to sell my wedding dress on ebay. I bought it for £700 new last June.

What would you say a realistic reserve price would be?

The only problem is that it has a small fake tan stain on the inside of the dress but apart from that perfect condition.

I need a bit of cash and there is no point in it sitting gathering dust. It's such a beautiful dress and I felt a million dollars.

I don't want to sell too cheaply so that's why I want a reserve.

Anywhere else I could try & sell it?

We have a shop here that speacialises in 2nd hand dresses, she buys them from you and then sells them on - maybe check to see if there is any thing similar x

maybe a bridal website? say you have a dress for sale send them pictures etc x

I honestly wouldn't put it on Ebay. I'd advertise it in the local paper, shop notice boards etc. Does your local paper have a classifieds website? Ours does, you can upload pictures and things sell really well.

It's so hard selling a dress like this and you don't get nearly as much money as you paid. I'd say maybe £250-£350 would be realistic but it depends on the style and the popularity of that style. I don't mean that in a rude way at all - I'm sure you know what I mean!

Yeah I know exactly what you mean.

I might give it a go on ebay with lots of pictures of the detail etc & see what happens as no loss that way.

Will also try the local paper.

I tried gumtree a while back & I had someone from Nigeria try scam me

I think for a second hand dress you should perhaps put a Buy it now or Best Offer price on Ebay - you can leave it there or maybe set a high price and then accept offers - people can then send you a best offer price...xxx

I think £300 as your BIN and then see what offers you get.

Good luck gorgeous xx

Oh yes, I remember you saying about the Nigeria scam, that really was not good.
Good luck BB.

I wouldnt sell it on ebay. Primarily because thats where all the chinese dressmakers who do copies of designer dresses for a tenth of the price sell theirs, and so you are competing against them, who make brand new dresses, and would probably be cheaper than you want to sell second hand for.

You can put a reserve price on ebay - if it doesn't sell then you can try the other options.

I need to sell mine to as much as I don't want to theres no point in having it sitting there gathering dust and I can't make it into a shorter dress cause its too big now (yay) and I couldn't cut it. I just can't bring myself to sell it.
