It's a vegetarian gelatine substitute so you can use it in baking x

Yes it is free. It is a thickener or gelling agent, based on a type of seaweed, and so vegetarians can use it. Normally it comes in a powder form, looking a bit like powdered gelatine. You can get it in some supermarkets and in health food stores.
