Alli's 2011 "Head stuff" diet

Hope today goes well Alli, I totally agree with you about the celery.... yuk yuk yuk..... have a good day xx

@Linda and Alli,

But have you every had celery with the little channel filled with peanut butter. YUM!

Of course, adding the peanut butter defeats the "low cal" option, but then doesn't that work like the (diet coke + candy bar = no calories) formula: because they cancel each other out?

I am so good at figuring these things out... I do not understand why I am not thin? For example, if no one sees you eat it then it does not count. if it comes from someone elses' plate -- they keep the calories. lol

I hope the sun is shining on you Alli and that you have a wonderful day!

Well explained Chels, couldn't have done it so well myself....... and no I dont really cause "bovver" (well not much anyway.... ha ha) and I dont have a skinhead either although I was known to have very short hair and certain stages......
I went to a scooter rally a couple of summers ago, at Pontins, Camber Sands. Hundreds of scooters and all the oldies dressed up like they used to in their yoof!!! There were ladies (?) with the hair, the tonic dresses on, the white lacy tights and the brogue shoes....I never realised what a ridiculous fashion it was....we all thought we were so cool at the time and looked "well hard" hahahahaha. I am sure you are no bovver at all Linda ;):D

I quite like celery with a bit of Philadelphia :D

LOL Mel, love the logic!

Celery, yum, but only in the winter, especially the nutty bit at the bottom. Celeriac even better.

Peanut butter....

But definitely NOT together. Yuk.

Agree with you about liking this bit of mini's Alli, SW section is great, but so busy...and we all know each other on here! xx

I like your style MM - that's my kind of thinking! :D

Celery with penaut butter would be a massive improvement but I'd rather have it on toast or even better straight out of the jar with a teaspoon! I bought Sainsbury's own peanut butter the other day though and it's way too sweet. Normally I buy Whole Earth peanut butter as it's jut 100% peanuts with no added sugar etc and I didn't realise just how different they taste. It's a good think I don't much like the one I have in the cupboard as otherwise it would suffer the same fate as the Nutella I bought for pancake day ...

I'm so stressed about work at the moment! I barely slept last night and that's just so not like me. I had to go in to our offices this morning but have come back home to work now and I feel a bit better but I still feel this low level anxiety all the time. I think it's just been a tough month and it will start to get better now but I hate feeling stressed. I don't mind being in a rush but constant anxiety is just not good...

So with that in mind I'm going to do nothing tonight - just chill out and watch a movie. Unfortunately my syns don't stretch to a glass of wine...that will have to wait until tomorrow - girl's night out woohoo!

Right, back to work!

Morning Alli,

i'm still here hunny!

It's going to be 2010 all over again, me talking to myself n shanny most of the time!! ha ha!!

oh well...will keep on with my ramblings anyway.

Hope you are having a lovely sunny Friday
xx

I hope your stress levels reduce soon Alli - have a great time at your girls night out tonight!

I tried your squash and lentil soup recipe - so yum and there's enough for lunch today as well! Thankyou. xx

Hi Alli and Lelly and Bess --

I am around. I just went to see CFF in the hospital yesterday. I had to drive 50 miles each way because hse is in the big American hospital at Lakenheath! She showed me the menu -- she order Lobster for dinner! No wonder she wants to stay for the 3rd night!

Anyway, I did little shopping (I bought a load of scrapbooking stuff -- I had better start using some of the stuff I already have stockpiled), and visited with CFF. She came through the Op just fine.

Hi girls! :)

I'm sticking around for the long haul now as I need the support + it's a good way of keeping my fingers busy when they want to pick at crisps...

Glad you liked the soup Bess - was it the carrot & lentil one? I do a squash soup as well but tend to make it with sweet potatoes instead of lentils (otherwise pretty much the same).

MM - gladd CFF came through the operation OK - if I ever need to go to hospital I want lobster on the menu!

I'm still not sleeping so will have a glass of wine tonight to see if that helps. It's all so silly but I think I've had to cope with a ridiculous work load these past 3 months and now that I've been handing some of that off to a new person the stress that I didn't allow myself to feel before is coming through (not sure if that makes sense).

Still - it shall pass and in the meantime I'm just thrilled that I haven't needed (or even wanted) chocolate to ease the stress as I normally would have. :)

right - am going out for a walk now to get some sun on my face...

Morning Alli,

Hope the wine helped and you got a good nights sleep hun.
Glad you are going to stick around here, it gets awful lonely without you all here!
Hope you enjoyed the sun on your face hun, i spent a lovely couple of hourson the decking....aahh lush!
Got any lovely plans for the weekend hun?
i'll be cooking with kids again later...yay!

have a good weekend hun

xx

Morning Alli, hope the wine helped you sleep and destressed you..... definately stick around here for the long haul, my diet has gone to pot this week, definately need to claw my way back on the wagon..... have a good weekend.

I don't know Alli, she said that they did not bring melted butter for the lobster and did not show her the wine list! ;)

Do you have the sun? If so I am very jealous... it is sooooo gray here today. I am going to have to turn the light box on.

What kind of wine? I nearly bought myself one of those tiny bottles of sauvignon blanc last night when I went into the Tescos Express to buy my non-winning Euro Millions ticket! Had I realised I wasn't going to win... I'd have bought the big bottle!

MM

I'm still here.......and wont be going anywhere. I would miss minis and all you lovely people so much. I was out on Thursday night, I had a busy day at work yesterday then babysat last night, so have not been near my pc for a while. xxx

The wine and a couple of hours chatting with the girls seemed to have helped and I slept a lot better last night! I hope you have enjoyed cooking with your kids today - the weather hasn't been as good today (or at least it hasn't here in Kent)

You'll get back on when you are ready! You've had so much on recently and I'm so impressed with the way you've handled it. Look at me whinging about stress about work - as if work is really important enough to stress about! Puts things in perspective, it really does! Take Care & have a really good weekend!

No butter, NO WINE!:eek::eek::D - skin flints!

I had a small glass of Prosecco last night - I love it! I rarely have it as DH doesn't drink so don't think to buy wine that often.
I take it you didn't win either :p. It was the first time in years that I played the lottery but got nada.

Hope you enjoyed your night out on Thursday & looking after the little ones. Did Jess get off to Buffalo OK?

I've just had a SW kebab which is basically a greek inspired meat loaf thinly sliced in pitta bread with salad and dressing. It was lovely!! :)

Off to put the kids to bed now before I put my feet up...

Hey Alli, I seem to keep responding to your posts everywhere now! We've all got diaries all over the place!
The recipe was squash, carrot and lentil, maybe I didn't follow the recipe exactly  (you must know me and my sloppiness with rules by now!) but it was inspired by you and delicious!

I was thinking about all this insanity over Lybia and wondering what the position of the Swedish Government is? I do think it's strange that the Nordic countries are so close and we seem to know so little about them. xx

Hi Alli,

I hope today is going well. How was London with the kids? Is it a long trip?

MM

Hi Alli,

I hope today is going well. How was London with the kids? Is it a long trip?

MM

It was fine! DD was petrified of the London Dungeons (as I knew she would be) so we aborted our gruesome tour and went to Starbucks :). Much more civilised but a bit silly going into London for Starbucks when we have one just 10 minutes from home. Still the children love going on the train so it was special to them. We are 30 minutes from London and only 22 minutes from London Bridge which is where we went so not far at all.

I lost 1lb this week! I'm trying to be happy with this although I would have preferred more (obviously!). Still it's moving in the right direction and it hasn't been hard so I can't complain. Will try and follow plan 100% this week and see if that makes a difference.

Hope you are all well! I so don't feel like going to work today. It's my performance review and I just haven't got the energy for it today. Still it has to be done - it also means I have to be in the office all day so have lined up neighbours to pop in to let Poppy out and play with them both a little. I have lovely neighbours who don't mind at all but I still feel bad about having to leave them. It's the first time we've left Poppy on her own (with 3 visits planned) and I hope it's the last one in a while as I'm going to feel bad all day .

Anyway, must go now!

Hi Alli,

Awwww, my neighbour walks my dog for me most weekdays. She started when I was working and has kept it up. It is a real kindness to the dog and us. However, I wish my family would do more with the dog. She deserves more walkies than gets.

MM

I felt the same as you when I've 'only' lost 1lb, but now, having finally accepted my limitations, I am happy with any loss. So I think you did great, especially as you say there were a few diversions. xx

Thanks Bess - Yes I was a little disappointed but I'm not now. I am trying to look forward and just get on with my week and so far so good!

I've been so busy at work today I have barely had time to think about food which is great! I had my performance review this afternoon and am exhausted after talking about myself for 2 hours . It went well though which is the main thing. I'm glad to have it over and done with because it's such a big thing at my current job and there's loads of prep work to do for it - now that it's done I can get on and actually do my job again!

Am on my own tonight as DH is out - this is my high risk time so will save dinner for later and have as many yogurts / grapes as I like - better that than chocolate biscuits :)

Will no doubt be back later!
