Any ex-slimming worlders?

Proud to be a LOSER :)
Hi

Hope this would be in the right place.
Basically ive been on and off slimming world for what seems like forever. It has worked for me in the past but I am having a lull right now and am wondering if a different plan would help.

Has anyone here gone from SW to WW? How did you find the change and did it work for you/and why?

To be honest I know little about WW and will not be paying for it as I have little money so will be relying on this site for information. Is it easy to follow like SW? Xx

Sw worked for me when i went thru cooking stage..but ww better for convenience of my life now. Pro point everything* both work very well in owm way :)

I lost 5 stone on SW, but everytime a social occassion got in the way I fell off the wagon, and each time I was off it, I decided to eat everything I wasnt allowed whilst on SW.

Work at the minute means Im constantly out for lunch and social eating and drinking, and it was really really hard trying to work it into the plan... so I switched to WW. It allows me to meet people for a coffee and sit and have a coffee shop sandwich etc, but I can still cook when I want to which I love.

I havent done WW for long, I lost 10lbs just before Christmas, and then went away to NYC, but seem to have lost a further 8lbs since I have been back in the last 2 weeks.

I've found I just need to be careful with rice and bread especially on points, but there is help in that you can have more bread type stuff.

Very similarly...i .lost 3 an half stone on sw..then my dad died..weight back on plus...life changed.. ww suits me for being out an about..*

I lost 2.5 stone but found I was taking advantage of the eat all you want that is free as I list will power. I've been in this 3 weeks and lost 8lbs. Slower but I find it makes me think more about what I'm eating

Thanks ladies. I know what you mean, I am a serial dieter - especially SW - and since moving back home I thought having meals cooked for me would be easier but Something is still affecting my weight loss.

Would you say bein on WW is expensive compared to SW? Do you have to buy WWs everything ...or is that just convenience?

I feel like I'm cheating but I cannot afford to go to a group, if someone has time could they just run through the jist of WWs like how many points you have a day, foods you definitely can or can't eat. Just want to know if it would fit in with my lifestyle.

Also I eat with my OH and family a lot, does this work well in those situations or do you have to cook separate meals? Xx

I lost 2 and half stone on SW 2yrs ago, I gained it all back through pregnancy. Now my son is nearly a year old I've decided to tackle the weight again but chose WW because its more convenient for me and easier to follow from home alone. So far I've lost 7.25lbs in 2wks doing pro points and I feel far from deprived. I loved SW but WW seems to fit in with my life style of 2 small kids a lot better, it seems less effort.

I lost 3 stone with SWorld and then put it back on...the problem that I had with SW was the portion control and the amount of dairy foods that you can eat.

I joined WW Propoints a couple of weeks ago and it fits better into family life, they eat what you eat and really dont notice the differance. I track what I eat and if I have gone over I use my activity points from exercise. It gives you more freedom in a more controlled manner than SW did. This is the year that I will succeed and loose and keep off the weight.

Good luck and I would advise you to give it a go, if you cant get to a class then join WW online -there is a special offer at the moment and the tracker system is great.

Good luck on you weightloss journey

Bugs bunny..most newspapers have free registration and free first class coupon..would make sense for you to go to that to get a good understanding of the rules...good luck. Ive got my first weigh in tonight having done ww one week...*

Hi Bugs, I've been on SW one an off for at least a year but have returned to ww because it fits in more with the kids and family and there isn't the need to plan so much...I very rarely buy ww products and cook everyones meals together and work out the total points and work from there...I am allowed alot of points (45) as I have alot to loose, and don't feel like I am going without. Most fruit & veg are 0 points so you can fill up in between meals. There is a propoints daily calcuator online that you can use if you really can't get to meetings.
This was my first completed week after christmas and I lost 4lb and my hubby( who's quite slim already) lost 5lb. Good Luck!

First of all well done on your wonderful weight loss both before with SW or WW and now :) you are all amazing!!

I may see if I could attend a group for free for a week to get the information. Problem also with SW was there was never a class near enough to me making it most inconvenient. But I would not be able to afford any membership - currently a trainer teacher so living off an overdraft which has been tight for 3 years already barely covered by a measly student loan and all my money goes on an hour and half travel mon to fri so as much as I think joining online would be great, I've seen it's about £20. As I've just spent £40 a month on fun membership too I can't afford it - why can't weightloss be more affordable for all eh?! Xxx

Hi bugs

I've been a SW on and off for years (tend to get bored after 3/4 weeks so was never very successful) the hardest thing i have found is not to treat my Points like syns. I really enjoy on WW that everything can be pointed so that if I want a McDonalds I can have one but I need to understand that I need to have 2 other light meals because of my points, it also makes me to try and keep it low points whereas with SW if I had a McDonalds - I'd be over my syns whatever i had and therefore I'd just give up

Hi

I was on SW but without a whole lot of success and If found EE difficult in terms of some days I wanted cereal, bread and a cereal bar without having use my syns. So I switched to WW lost some then xmas came and gained 10lbs, I have lost 5 of those in the last 2 weeks but I am firmly back on plan. My personal view is that WW suits every life style better, if you cook a lot its great but if you need ready meals / convenience food some days then its easy to fit those into your daily points.

I know that WW are currently doing an offer of 3 months online for £30 or you could go to the meeting for free (for the first one) and get the folder that would really help.

I would also suggest trawling through food diaries and other threads on the WW forum and making up your own list of foods and thier points.

If you post your age, height, current weight me or someone else could tell you how many points a day you should be on.

You will get weekly and daily points, the plan is to eat all of both ideally but I think every body will react differently. Technically though you can eat all your dailies each day then use up your weeklies however you want, spread out over 7 days or over the weekend its up to you. You can also earn points for exercise and can eat those if you wish but I personally don't eat mine.

There is always someone about who can answer any questions you might have

Good luck x

Also meant to add that if you start a food diary over on the WW forum then we can all check it forf you to make sure you are on the right track.

hi there! im an ex sw too and have been on ww for a week. was a little disappointed as i only lost 1lb but i dont have huge amounts to lose so i guess it comes off slower...

i'm on 26 pp and i must admit i never went hungry on sw but im always hungry this last week...

best of luck!!

I'm an ex SW'er, and I reckon I'm saving money as I'm not eating excessively. Lost 5st 2.5lb in about 14 months so far. I cook from scratch, experiment a lot and can socialise without falling off the wagon! I always say I love how SW taught me to cook from scratch but I love WW for teaching me about portion control and giving me a bit of freedom.

I've done sw on and of for the past three or four years. I did lose a lot of weight doing it however, I found that I it didn't really solve my over eating problems as my portion sizes were huge. I find ww better in that respect as it helps to control what I eat. I don't feel the need to stuff myself like I did with sw. I find that I eat a larger variety of food with ww as with sw I tended to stick with rice and pasta and I was so fed up of passatta and tinned tomatos.
