I am sat here watching Saturday Kitchen. Last night I went to bed with a recipe book rather than a novel (a healthy food one though :p)... Has anyone else developed a sudden fascination with food?! Actually, its not even food, its cooking and all the things that can be done with food!

Don't know if this is a good/typical thing or not!

I have! weirdly I don't want to eat it... but I like to imagine making things and stuff. which is even more strange because I'm actually completely rubbish at cooking. I can make a few things but I'm not that great. I think I'll go on a cookery course after this!

Me too, I was obsessed with Masterchef! Scary! but it seems that the next best thing to eating is watching food being prepared. It's food porn were not getting any (food, that is) so we have to resort to pictures & films!

:rolleyes:lol i thought i was just a bit of a freak! suddenly really hooked on masterchef, ramsays kitchen nightmares and pretty much any cookery programme thats going lol

Nah, you're not a freak just a food fetishist!!!:D

yeah me too. how wierd. i liked masterchef and also watch jamie at home, ramseys kitchen nightmares and have just watched saturday kitchen. i have bought 3 cookbooks in the last few weeks and made numerous cakes buns etc and a few one pot meals.

LOL Me too!! I watch until I get ars*y with it!! depends if I'm hungry or not!! I've also suddenly found Grand Designs fascinating too!! So I want to cook and build all at the same time!! bizarre!!

YEP me too!! When I was SSing I ordered loads of healthy eating cookery books, planning ahead! I also have been avidly watching Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen - even gave the Willies Wonky Chocolate Factory programme on Channel 4 a whirl which must be some kind of masochism as chocolate is my biggest weakness!!

Gxx

Yup me too. I like to watch the food network channel and have just recently bought "How to cook yourself thin" and a couple of healthy eating Indian books.

any 'food-porn' recommendations?! I love the recipes in the food doctor diet book, thinking of buying the actual cookbook version...

cddieter - have you got a recipe book for one pot meals? I always look at them, think it would be useful for making a decent meal, living by myself and hating washing up!!! I never know which is the best book though...

ive got the food doctor book, quite good! also have recently bought the cook yourself slim, weightwatchers and the essential low carb cook book lol! until recently i dont think i ever owned a cook book lol cant weight til i can actually eat lol

Yeah I have too!!! I've looked on the net for cookery courses to do later in the year cause I want to improve, but they've all started!!!!

I also want to buy Jamie Oliver's Jamie At Home book but I hardly use my other books so I daredn't!!! Maybe when I get to goal I'll ask for it as a present from H!!

How strange of us all!!!

oh yes have you seen that Jamie Oliver advert were he puts hot cross buns in the oven with a covering of marmalade, then pours over custard and puts it in the oven, oh my god,:p

Yep, me too. Saturday kitchen, market kitchen, masterchef and all the jamie Oliver at home re-runs on catch up tv. I've decided the family should eat healthily and try growing our own veg once i'm thin. Hhmm. x

One thing I don't understand is, why the lashings of olive oil. I know they say it's good for you ( as opposed to ordinary oil) from a cholesterol point of view but surely its full of calories?

Yep me too - I have a stash of cookery books underneath my bed for bedtime reading lol, and I've developed a passion for baking, not many weekends go by when I'm not cooking up a storm of cakes and biscuits for me not to eat!

Actually reading that, I think I need to get out more...

I've become obsessed with cooking tele - was glued to Masterchef and today have recorded Saturday Kitchen to watch!!!
I always home cook from scratch but lately have started making biscuits and cakes and bread as well instead of buying that. I'm loving it and as long as I can have a good sniff I'm not even tempted to eat any of it. Have been cooking dh proper meals to take for his lunch at work instead of sandwiches at well (he has microwave to heat up stuff). I am really enjoying doing it.

Wish I had that food channel on the tv really, lol!

I can't watch the programmes they make me feel hungry! But I bought the new Delia and Nigella books...and looking forward to trying out some recipes once i'm at goal!
