I used to live on bachelors pasta and sauces, never found any of them gritty. Are you using cheaper versions of them? If so, that might be the answer.
  4. Have you checked the use-by date?

Sounds like they might be out of date or a dodgy batch! Maybe the dried sauce isn't mixing right or something??

Try getting some from a supermarket if possible and see if you have the same problem.

I've never found them to be gritty or anything... hmm... it's a mystery!
  7. Contact the manufacturer and complain.

Yes!! I had one last week which was like this! It was the brocolli one. I've had others since which have been fine. I kept the packaging so I could let the manufacturer know but my OH threw it in the bin.

I had one last week exactly like that, it was cheese and broccoli. It went in the bin. I didn't think about checking the date, I was too disappointed and hungry!! Sounds like a dodgy batch.

It really was awful. Just like eating bits of sand! It's put me off the cheese and broccoli one now!
  12. Everyone who has had this problem should contact the manufacturer. They can't put things right if they don't get told about it. You should get a refund, but also an explanation of what has happened.

Hi can you tell me what you are on about? I would like to try is it free?
  14. It is a processed dried pasta and sauce product made by Batchelors (those wonderful people whose other offerings include "Cup a Soup" - spelling not one of their good points!) and called "Pasta 'n' Sauce". Some varieties are free if made with water and not milk.

Some people swear by it. I think it is the nastiest thing I have ever tried! Each to their own . . .

If you google pasta n sauce you will find links to the Batchelors website, which will give you more information, and the SW website (or this site) will give you syn values for those which are not free.

Brilliant Ana, I buy the similar variety mugshots!
I do admit that while I've been buying them I've put on...

I love Pasta n Sauce, especially the macaroni cheese flavour. When they discontinued the Mushroom & Wine, it was very sad day indeed. Fortunately, I haven't had any sandy packets yet! I used to love their low fat super noodles, but since they changed the recipe they are awful :yuk:

I've noticed they are sandy - this was a while ago and i thought nothing of it (i must admit its odd i dont find sandy food strange lol).

Then i read this thread and had one a few days later and again sandy!!

    Wonder what it is...

Yes, it's free if you make it up with water instead of milk and butter. Some of the other varieties have a syn or two. Chicken and Mushroom is also free.
