    Hi All :)

As a newbie to this forum I would like to let you all know (although you probably know already) how great it is that this forum exists, I've already found it to be a huge help and I've only just decided to seriously get back into the dieting game!

Over the years I have been an on-off slimming world member, both going to groups and doing it online so I know that it works when it is stuck to and the bonus is you're never hungry! This time I have decided to not actually join the online group, I found that I didn't use it as often as I should and to be honest I think this forum is more informative and supporting anyway! So I know the basics and I have a wide collection of Cook books, magazines and I still have the sheet explaining the Healthy Extras. I was wondering though how important it is to have the Healthy Extras, do I have to have them or are they optional? I do not tend to eat much bread or cereal and so I would have to make effort to incorporate the B choices.

Thank you for your help, I hope over the coming weeks I can contribute to help fellows dieters too! Xx

The healthy extra I would say. Yes you have to have them as that is your daily dose of fibre and dairy you need x
    Hope this helps.
Also you don't need to have cereal as your healthy B. You could have 2 alpen light bars. Just check your books to see what else you can have x

Thanks autumnbabe, the bars look like a good idea for me, I'll give them a go. Thanks for the reply xx

  5. Healthy Extra A is for calcium, B is for fibre. Both are essential items. If you are quite sure that you are getting enough calcium from other foods, then that would be fine, but a lack of calcium could cause you serious problems in later life.

Hi Anna, thank you for your reply, I will make sure that I incorporate both A and B choices. I never struggle with the As ha ha I could eat half a block of cheese on some days! I'm probably going to have cereal bars or ryvitas for the Bs. Thanks again for your input, knowledge is power ;-) xx

They are recommended to ensure a healthy balanced diet but they are not mandatory. That said there is a huge list of healthy extra options other than just bread and cereal so it should be easy to fit them into your day. You also get get more of them when you hit target so better to get used to them now :)

Hi PatchworkPuss, that's really useful info, thanks for letting me know. I am going to make an effort to complete the diet as it is advised, I have been to tesco this evening and the Special K chewy bars and alpen light (both of which I believe are B choices) were on offer, this must be sign, so I've stocked up! It's good to know that it is not absolutely compulsory though to have a B, for example if I got to the end of the day and I hadn't had a B I don't need to worry too much.

Thanks again for all your help guys, it's very much appreciated. I love this forum :) xx

I also struggle to choose a B choice as bread affects my ibs and I'm not a fan of cereal. But have you tried those Kellogg's chewy delight bars? I find the dark chocolate one really satisfying and I have one every night now which also curbs my chocolate cravings. Only 4 1/2 syns if you fancy another after hexB as well :D

Hi I don't always use my healthy extras. I have ibs, dairy intolerance and my bowel has a malabsorbtion disorder. I spoke to my gp and she said use whenever I want to but I take daily vitamins and supplements anyway which make up the difference.

Hi all, thanks again for the replies, very interesting about the member who had a weight loss boost by putting HExs back in, the conclusion I am coming to is that the cereal bars are the way forward for me! I've had a couple of the alpen light bars today and they are yum! I've also got the Special K chewy bars so I will give those a go tomorrow! Your replies are much appreciated :) xx

I struggle getting my HEXB in too. What I use it on now is for a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil in my cooking. Makes my slimming world chips taste yummy.

I'm the same with my A's i could eat soooo much cheese haha! but I find when I eat cheese everyday that I don't loose as much as I'd like, think I'm going to start just having a glass of remaining milk at the end of each day from now.
