Atkins and babies

Wants to be a yummy mummy
Afternoon all,
Am on day two and all going well so far :)

What I was going to ask is, how do you think Atkins affects fertility?

Do you think it would be best to lose all the weight that I want to lose first, then intro some more carbs before ttc?

We were going to be ttc again soon, but I dont wanna be this fat when I get pg again, I put on 5 stone in last pg, and have lost 3.5 of that, but still dont wanna start another pg this fat at all.

So I am guessing ttc whilst in ketosis isnt the best idea?

Call me Linzi...
Both times I have fallen pregnant I have been low carbing & I was told at the age of 16 I would never get pregnant without medical intervention, apart from being on tablets they were both concieved naturally... needless to say I'm now taking precautions!!

My specialist said there is nothing wrong with low carbing & pregnancy... he talked alot about women in Africa & their lifestyle is meat & veg & they have very healthy babies!! I think he was a very rare breed as most docs think low carbing is unhealthy at the best of times!!

Atkins recommends maintanence if yr pregnant but no reason that you can try whilst losing???:D
Hmm, can't help there love.

Yummy mummy to be!
It'd a grey area, i'd maybe ask on the official Atkins forums see if you can get an officail answer from one of their mods. Or your doc should be able to advise.

I have to say when i was on atkins last yr my cycles were dead on! Every 4 weeks on a tuesday, would have made TTC easy peasey. As soon as i reintroduced carbs my cycle went all over the place again:p

Loves this site!
I'll still be on it when i start ttc in july hun. Watch this space! I would say get to a weight you are happy with as it may happen straight away. Im intending on getting to goal before i start trying as i think if i start off smaller i'll be smaller after birth.
