Bellydancing!!!!!!!!

So I looked through the hobbies but I didn't find anyone mention that they bellydance or take classes. Well I got to represent then I am a bellydancer and have been dancing for the last 7 years. I am a member of a wonderful dance troupe and I teach workshops occasionally as well.

Anyone else here a bellydancer or has taken classes as a student?

Its something that i keep wanting to try but just never get around to it. There is a class starting locally soon so may give it a go.

Incidentally what is the demand for belly dancing classes in the Maritimes?? We are in the process of emigrating to Nova Scotia so hope there is some classes there.

Give it a go! It is wonderful. Taking it as a student helped me get over my poor self-image and body issues I had from being obese. I'm still over weight but I am far from where I was before.

Regarding the maritimes there are a lot of options in Nova Scotia. Cape Breton is my old stomping grounds. Bellydance is a large thing in the martimes with dance centers spread across the province. I can recommend you to many classes there and different bellydance styles. Do you know where in NS you are headed to?

I took a couple classes when I was younger but I don't have the money to do it now. I wish I could though. That's one kind of exercise I would definitely keep going to instead of stopping a couple months in.

Yes i'm a belly dancer and once upon a time, we did have a thread

I'm definitely still in student mode and probably always will be. Done for about 3-4 years and yes performed but mainly to family and friends. This time last year I told people that if i got to goal then i would do a dance with bra and skirt showing off my belly - last performance was halidji so rather covered instead! Hopefully everyone else has forgotten...as not surprisingly still not happy with my jelly belly

My friend has had lessons in the past. It's something I would love to do but nobody seems to be teaching it here atm. Pole dancing also looks very fun.
