Cheating on your diet to maximize results

Ah ha, see it now. Nothing new mind, people have known about 'calorie cycling' for ages, especially helpful when you hit the dreaded plateau, and yes it does give your metabolism a kick start.
 
I also can't get into the link, but on the biggest loser bob once said they get a cheat meal the day after weigh in to kickstart their metabolism, because their diet is so low cal. So it must work!
 
Hmm, I never tried anything like that, I found on low carb it had the opposite effect.
 
Personally after having done a VLCD for a long time - I can say that my biggest losses were usually following the allowance of an 'extra' meal. It didn't happen often, and I wasn't 'cheating' - but allowing myself a night away. ... I found that the plateau would give way to almost like a 're-awakening' of the body?
I would definitely not use this as an excuse for lapsing or cheating though if you are following a vlcd - however, every couple of months or so, a night out (SENSIBLY!) can't be too bad for the system.
