Another Newbie here....

I'm giving myself one year to get fit and healthy and loose about 30 lbs before I turn 30!

Currently I am 189.4 lbs and have gotten this big purely by being greedy, eating totally the wrong foods and not doing any dedicated exercise.

After catching site of myself in a full length mirror (no mirrors in this house) I've decided to do something about it.

I've never really put in a fair effort when it comes to diets etc and I know I'll get bored and stray if I try to stick to a plan as such so I am just going to try and eat healthy and exercise more.

I am vegetarian and the biggest things I'll need to cut dwn on are dairy and bread - I just consume too much on a daily basis and would like to cut as much dairy out as possible for ethical reasons too.

So, please help me make a start!

Any tips or hints to get me on my way?

i would start by reading the information in the sticky section just up there ^^^ it will help you around the forum :)

then maybe check out the diaries,stories and slideshow for real inspiration and motivation,i feel one of the best things you can do is keep a weight loss/food diary,it will help you a lot...if you have a read of the diaries here,you'll see what i mean. :D

a ticker is a good idea,as you can 'see' your weight going down on the ticker, that always puts a smile on my face :eatdrink012:

i dont eat meat or fish,i did think it would be a struggle at first,as i didnt want to eat too many carbs, but with the help of my fitness pal,i keep on track of carbs and cals.i also use the tools there to keep an eye on bmi..its great to see that going down too.

I'd already found my fitness pal and It's been useful to track my food for a couple of days - can't hide behind a 'couple' of biscuits when It's quite clearly been 6!

Hey there hun, :welcome2: to the forums. I echo what bunny has said, she has more or less said it all there :D
Maybe if you want motivation for your exercise you could join one of our exercise challenges (that is if you want to use Wii Fit) or you could start a new challenge, there is always someone on here who wants to join with others for motivation and a challenge. Our Wii Fit and Just Dance challenges have been great and we do them every month.
