Converting Stones into Lbs

This may be a bit of a stupid question but how does everyone convert stones into Lbs? I only ask as I do it this way...

So... say 15 stone 9lbs. I would do this equation:

15*14+9=219

but when you do it the other way round it doesn't match.

219/14=15 stone 6lbs.

So should I be doing:

15.9*14=223 (rounded up.)

I must admit I have been doing it 15x14 + 9

so mine is 10st and half a lb so I done 10 x 14 + 1/2 which is 140.5 is this correct:confused:

I am easily confused with numbers so I do the following:

10 stone is 140lbs and then add whatever lbs on top.

So for you I'd go 140+14+14+14+14+14+9=219

I just google '14 stone in lbs' and then add the poundage (although this has reminded me I'm in the 13 stones and had forgotten, so am all happy again)

Too many numbers I am confused now, How many lbs would I be at 10st 1/2 lb

Sorry to take over your thread but thought I had worked mine out correct but may be wrong

10 stone is easy as it's 10 x 14lbs so 140lbs plus a 1/2

You do the full stones x 14. So 15 x 14 + 9, just like you said. 219/14 doesn't equal 15st 6lbs, it equals 15.6st but there aren't 10lbs in a stone so 0.6st doesn't equal 6lbs, it equals 9lbs. 140+14+14+14+14+14+9 is wayyy too complicated!

STONES x 14 + LBS = weight in lbs, simples!

I would have but then I'm a teacher :p

The reason it doesnt work when you do it - 11x14+pounds and then divide by 14 is because it's going to do it in 10s, so e.g 11.7, the 0.7 is roughly 10/14.
:) Google is easier

ETA just realised essentially repeated what Caroline said before. >.<

See this is what I wondered... if it doesn't work because it's doing it in 10s instead of 14s.

Just very glad to hear that I am doing it right. :)
