Coming in late to the dentist discussion but I also have a massive dentist phobia (braces top/bottom for 6 years and a local dental nurse who liked to take teeth out with a hooky thing and no anaesthetic will do that to a person). I had a crumbling back tooth that went on a lean to just as the pandemic hit, but I had no choice but to go - and it really wasn't as bad as I feared. I've found a really good dentist - he gave me lots of pain relief, talked me gently through it all, and I didn't have to take a single painkiller afterwards, he was that good.

It's like going to the doc isn't it? I worry and fret for ages beforehand, and when I finally get there, find it's not as bad as I'd imagined :classic_roll_eyes: .

Well done on all the hard work on the tarpaulin, and on getting the trailer tent sorted - and your food sounds fab!

Our staffie is a real love bug. She has so many " fans lol" who stop to give her a big fuss, There is even a gentleman who stops in his car as he passes by if she is in the garden to give her a fuss. Missi our dog can't wait for the door to be open come wind/rain/hail when the bin men come as the whole team come and give her a big love. They have even bought her a doggie treat for Christmas.

Congratulations on raising all that money for dementia you should be proud of yourself. It is an awful disease. I used to care for dementia patients for 10 years. Till I went and converted my enrolled nurse (mental) to Registered mental nurse (RMN) then I went in a completely different direction I did forensic nursing. Caring for men and women who had committed serious crimes (murder/rape etc) but found to be mentally ill at the time. But I eventually had to retire as I got MS.(multiple sclerosis)

Well done on weight loss. I did a mid week weigh in and I have lost a pound fingers crossed it says that on real weigh day or more🤞🤞🤞

Your going to be a busy bee today. I am having my coffee now but stripped beds today with hubbies help. I have two at the minute as mum is staying with us so she has not been on her own during lockdown. But mum is a big help to me seems to have more energy than me lol

Right coffee time over washing to peg out

Mine was a staffy. He was a great dog. He died last year, aged only 6. He had cancer. Still miss him.

@purpleorc my niece had a staffy called missi too! she was a sweetie. I have only worked with people with dementia for 2 years but I really love it and find it very rewarding, if I leave it will be due to staffing issues and never because of the job itself. Your career sounds really interesting but must have been upsetting at times too, I'm sorry you've had to leave it though :(

hugs @ladybird777 He was lovely, it's so sad to lose them but especially when he should have had more years

Well as expected, we completed our 100km todays walk was 5.36km, and took us to 102 km in total. I've eaten some fromage frais and I DID REMEMBER to finally take the chicken out the freezer lol, so that will be tonights dinner. I might have some soup shortly.

I'm craving crisps and chocolate for no good reason, but haven't eaten any (Only the dark choc I had but that's been finished a few days ago)

The reason I left caring for dementia patients was two fold patients who needed long term care they were now going to the private sector instead of being looked after by NHS hospital. The second was my body was struggling through all the manual lifting I did at the begining as there was no such thing as lifting aids and looking back the first symptoms of MS were creeping in. I had some great times in nursing hard work but rewarding. It is the only job I have ever done so was tough giving it up

Ladybird777 your staffie looks so sweet as if butter wouldn't melt. I am so sorry you have lost your baby way too young. We lost our last staffie 9 years ago on holiday. He become poorly on holiday but he had reached 16 years old so was an old boy.

♥️ all the doggo pics, gorgeous snuggle pups.

I ended up having 2 eggs whisked up, fried, topped with cheese and pepperoni. Kind of like eggy pizza without tomato sauce lol.

The chicken isn't quite thawed, it's becoming such a saga... when will the chicken happen? 😁 maybe today maybe not. There is pizza in the freezer the kids would be happy to have.

I have a headache, not sure why. Not done much really just the dog walk and then I sat watching the Firefly series. Then walked to get son from school, home via the shop for milk.

I'm toying with moving my food window. I've noticed since my son is at school that now I'm typically up and about from 7am, that although I'm not really hungry I am wanting to eat mid morning. When he was off we typically weren't up before 9, often later and fasting until at least midday was easy. I could move my window till 10am-6pm, instead of 12-8pm. Even if I didn't eat I think it's the psychological issue of not being 'allowed' to... but then... would I feel deprived in the evening? it's easy to go and have a few nuts at 8pm if I'm hungry at night. I dunno.

In fairness there's probably no point changing it this week, as from Friday they're off for 2 weeks Easter hols anyway. By then I'll have finished the 8 weeks of this I said I'd do.

I don't expect much to change though, at that point. I don't think I need to eat more or change what I eat further. I'll probably keep doing much the same but add in a 24 hour fast per week and see how I get on with that.

Sometimes we have to play around with what works for you and your lifestyle. If you have an eating programme that is right for you. You are more likely to stick with it long term. I have tweaked a little the slimming world programme I use to lose weight.

yeah I'll muddle through the next 2 weeks I think as other than my nightshifts (which mess up the routine anyway) I won't be up at 7am, then I'll decide how I'm going to approach the next segment. I'll probably make small commitments - like to follow a set of timings for a month, then review. I'll stick generally with the lower carbs though, I can't call it keto as the fat is an issue I just don't like it but add it where I can.

My scales are telling me I'm 1.5 down since last Friday :) will see if they still say it tomorrow lol. In any case this is definitely the lightest I've been in a while, and in the healthiest manner.

I have worked nights I never knew when to eat as the hours mess up your sleep pattern and your eating times. I think how you are going to approach the next two weeks is a good idea. I hope the weight loss fairy is still kind tomorrow. I did my mid week weight in yesterday and I had lost a pound but whether it stays that way is another matter lol

Hope the pound and more stays off on weigh day @purpleorc

I did think I'd just move my eating window for night duty. Typically it's 12pm-8pm but for nights moving it to maybe 6pm -2pm but what I find is that on nights I WANT to eat everything so its a struggle to stay on track. There are always biscuits and sandwiches around at work that we know will be binned in the morning if we don't eat them so it's easy to snaffle one or three. I usually work 5 night on, 9 off though, so I figure even if I do digress a little on my nights I can still shuffle forwards, which is enough for me, If I can see my weight lower every month even by 2 or 3lb's I'll be ok. If I aim low and hit higher then that's a good mind trick for me. I have to look longterm I know that my body does not shed weight quickly, never has unless I just don't eat at all (which I did during a phase of emotional trauma, but off course it goes back on just as fast after that and I don't want to live that way AT ALL) I need to make lots of lower carb nibbly stuff I think and try to eat those thru the night.

If I lost 2lb's per month (factoring in I've lost 8 so far) from April onwards by the end of the year I'd be another 18 down, 26 in total. That's nearly 2 stone!

If I lost 3lb's per month (factoring in I've lost 8 so far) from april onwards, by the end of the year I'd be another 27 down so 35 in total. That's huge.

If I lost 4, cos you never know, I might get lucky, I'd be down a massive 44lb's, over 3 stone.

How many years have I trudged through summer saying 'next year I'm going to be slimmer. NEXT year I won't be hiding behind layers of clothes to hide my size' only to finish the year either the same or bigger? Too many to count.

This approach means I won't be slim for summer, but I'll be slimmer than I am now. and every inch makes life more comfortable whether that means feeling cooler on a hot day, more energetic on a walk, less pain in my feet, or simply more confident in how I look and better in how I feel.

When I was at work we used to do a take away night for us and patients. We would tell patient the night before then we would all sit around together to eat, not conducive to losing weight. But I no longer work as I am unable to under health grounds. So at least I do not have these temptations

I am lucky my hubby is following same eating plan as me so we can motivate each other. We both have lost over 3 stone each. It is surprising how much better I look and feel. Moving about is easier and less breathless. Like you I wont be slim for summer but I will be slimmer. I am determined to shift the weight this time. I have always been overweight/obese as long as I can remember. But I am sure if I can shift the weight they will improve my numerous health issues.

Well done on the loss. :) I think slow and steady is the best way. I lost 34 lb in 10 weeks on vlcd and have put most back with very little food intake doing it.

wow 6 stone between you that's amazing. It's just me and the kids here, it's helped me to kind of designate their snacks per person so they have a box each rather than a household stash (which I used to raid) I'm actually quite proud of that since I started this mid february I've not taken anything from their boxes, and haven't bought or eaten any crisps. I've had some biscuits at work and the only sweets I buy myself are dark chocolate. I'll keep trying out lower carb baking tho.

Some of our residents have a regular take away, but my shift doesn't start until 9, so anything like that is always all done before I'm there so for my plan that's quite helpful lol.

@ladybird777 yes I think you are right, I lost loads years ago on lighterlife, but it soon went back on too. I went through a bereavement just at the end of it though and didn't really go through the proper management phase. I'll never know if it would have been different if I had.

I'm feeling lazy again. Walked son to school and didn't do anything else until about an hour ago, I've rearranged the paved area in my garden. I have a gazebo I put up last year and have put the table under it, and moved the other stuff around, swept up a bit. One of my besties is coming for dinner so we're going to eat out there, I plan to have more people round for food over the nicer weather as who knows how long it will be before we're allowed in each others houses again. I stick to the rules as much as I can.

I don't really mind not having pubs etc and won't be in a rush to get to them when they open either, but I haven't seen enough of my friends and family.

Food so far - I've had a portion of chilli, which I added some chopped up tomato, cucumber and cubes of cheese to. It was quite nice, bit of a change from rice, I do miss doritos tho haha. I may make a batch of crackers flavoured with chilli powder and see if they are nice with salsa/chilli etc. DInner is going to be roast chicken, I'll have extra veg with mine, and whatever naughty stuff my friend brings...

It's so brilliant that you're feeling benefits of losing weight so far, it's all to play for - for me I know it's such a relief not to be breathless doing the simplest of things etc xx

Much harder for you with having your children's treats around the home you must be pround of your will power. My mum is staying with us during the lockdown and she has a few temptations but I have held strong. Mum has been with us since December and mum has lost 1 1/2 stone and dropped a dress size

Been shopping today and bought a bar of chocolate for Easter. I can syn it into the day so we get a treat.

I hope you have a lovely time with your friend. I am looking forward to when we can meet up with my hubbies family and have a meal out. We do this about every 6 weeks or so and catch up. We have a lovely evening with lots of laughs.

that's great @purpleorc to help your Mums health too.

I'm not a huge socialiser it was always just a few nights out over a year at most for me, but I have missed having friends over it's been too cold until recently albeit it's due for another cold snap according to the forecast.

I plan to have one friend over at a time, for dinner in the gazebo on a fairly regular basis until we're allowed more. Last night was lovely, we had our dinner, then I fired up the chimnea, daughter went out and son went to play in his room so we had some peace for a lovely catch up. I ate lots I shouldn't tho, we melted chocolate on the fire and dunked fruit in it. My friend left about 10pm and I stayed out until the fire died down stargazing and watching satellites sail quietly across the sky (I saw 6)

However today is weigh day - and I am 2lbs down! my measurements are all the same tho. I didn't want to measure every limb so I only went with bust, hips and waist. I must be losing it from somewhere tho.

I wasn't due to start back at work until tomorrow night, but a workmate's Dad has passed away so he's off unexpectedly, I said I'd cover tonight so I'm starting a night early. I didn't think about it at the time (not that it would have changed what I chose to do), but I think this will tip me over into earning too much for the dentist again this month.

Things will settle, I find I can manage 5 nights in a row not to badly but by 6 I'm exhausted so I don't want to keep doing 6, but that will be 6 this run and last run too as I covered a friend to have time off around her birthday.

But to cover a guy who just lost his Dad, a valued part of our team who is always reliable, our team help each other out. 3 of us doing one night each at the moment then I think he's off another few days on the rota after that.

Sooo. Plans for today, being lazy at the minute. I have shopping to pick up between 1 and 2 and a covid test I need to do and drop in to work on way to pick up shopping. When we come back I want to get the trailer tent sorted out, I've been threatening it all week and it's only half done. I might get a batch of low carb cooking on the go soon. Throw rattatouille in the slow cooker, make a batch of coconut flour muffins and a set of low carb naans, I have chicken curry on the menu over the next few days and I like using them to make pizza anyway. All of those can freeze. I might pick something else to try as well altho I'll be lacking the ingredients probably! I have last nights chicken carcass in a pot too, to make soup. I usually make a curry out of the leftovers but there won't be enough this time. I've a butternut squash sitting that needs roasted, will probably get that cooked as well. So I guess it could be a busy cook day - but as I'm about to start 6 nightshifts it feels wise. See if I can minimise the damage I do this week. See if I can get my bag packed for work tonight with low carb friendly fayre.

Son is being picked up by his Dad at 5pm, daughter is going out so me and the pup will have a nice walk around then. I'll probably try to fast until after the dog walk, but it's a change over day I'll not worry too much.

I'm excited that I lost 2lb :)

Happy Friday all x

I am a bit of a home bird so not a hectic social life. I don't have the energy lol

well done on weight loss you have done very well. Even if you don't know where from lol

Try and have a little rest before nights if possible. First night on if the roughest in my opinion.
