Is PCOS quite common? My Mum thinks I have it.

My periods used to be very irregular (before I went on contraceptive pill so didn't have periods) and I have a very hairy face, arms and my stomach is hairy under my belly button. I put weight on easily too. I'm really spotty too

Saw my GP this morning, he's so wonderful. He noticed that I'd had a prescription for Metformin way back when in 2007 so happily prescribed it again today. So, we shall see. He also arranged a thyroid test for me so let's see what's going on.
