Devon & Cornwall Any Recommendations?

Most years we tend to go abroad on holiday, but this year, as we are meant to have a nice summer

, we actually fancied going to Devon or Cornwall.

Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to stay where there may be plenty to do during the day and possibly things to do in the evening as well, we have 3 girls aged 17, 15 and 12, so you can imagine we do not want to go anywhere 'BORING', you know what teenagers are like :sigh:

Any suggestions gratefully received

Hi

Being a "local" have you considered either Newquay or St Ives.

Both have superb beaches, plenty to do during the day and the summer evenings are wonderful. Newquay is better for clubs etc, but as your girls are "under age" this wouldn't count I suppose.

Anywhere though in Cornwall, when the sunshines, is a beautiful place to be.

There is also the Falmouth estuary.

Have you looked up possible places to visit.....i.e Crealy adventure park, I would stay local to whichever attractions you fancy visiting.

I have only ever visited Cornwall once, but it was a very short visit, but what I saw was lovely, I will have a little look round on the internet with the ideas you have given me, thank you both

Hi Sue, there are lots of beautiful places in Devon and Cornwall to visit (but being a Devon girl born and bred I am very biased!!). What sort of things are you and your family interested in?

of course Janey, I forgot you are in Devon ....

I think we are just looking for a good location where there are things to do in the resort and things nearby that we could travel to.

We have spoken before about staying in a cottage, so even if there is not much to do in the evening, at least we would have a few home comforts if a couple of nights we stayed in.

Some of the holiday parks look quite nice, but there are so many if starts to get a bit confusing

We have sea, moors and countryside so there is a lot of choice. I live in Torbay where there are many attractions for the daytime and restaurants/multi-plex/theatre and other entertainment in the evening. Dartmoor is stunning if you wanted to stay in a cottage, North Devon is beautiful with Exmoor and beautiful villages like the famous cobbled Clovelly, Exeter is gorgeous (a Roman city with lots of historic places to see, the best selection of restaurants and nightlife in the whole of the South West), Cornwall is very, very attractive too. Like someone else said Newquay has a lot of entertainment and you could enjoy the fresh sea air.

Devon looked gorgeous yesterday bathed in sunshine. I was down on Torquay seafront on Saturday afternoon after coming out of the theatre and I could have been in Spain. It was very hot, the sea was glistening and there were tourists everywhere. Lovely! Roll on the summer!!!

It was gorgeous down here in Plymouth, my hubby and BIL both got sunburnt.....lol.
It was gorgeous.......and got to laze about in the garden at MIL party. Though its a bit overcast at the moment

I would say Newquay if you have teenagers- its quite busy in the summer but there are loads of places you can visit nearby if you want to escape for a bit x

We booked our accomodation through SW cottages (search on google) and we booked our cottage through them, sleeps four and cost £259 for a week which isnt bad and its in Torquay and there is a lot to do around there we had a leaflet sent when we booked our accomodation listing all the things we can do locally which was helpful.

We are still dithering at the moment, cannot seem to make a decision and we also have an issue with dates at the moment, so that is holding up proceedings as well
