Well just checked out some diary threads etc. and thought I'd pop on my diary.
What a night, Eldest daughter (16) has been followed by a man in a van, he called her over, kept appearing out of roads and the such like, Kim ran to a friends as it was nearer than home, and phoned me from there. I was in the middle of having my hair highlighted by one of her trainee friends, so I jumped in the car forgetting I had half a ton of baco wrap on my head, sweaty gear I'd worn for aerobics and very unflattering slippers and off I go scouring the town for a large open backed van with someone roughly 30 ready to rip his face off!!!
Anyway couldn't find van matching the description, went to pick up Kim, who embarrassedly asked me why I had come out looking the way I did! Gratitude for youThis comment actually made me realise how ridiculous I actually looked, but I was frantic to find this man, not sure what I'd have done if I had. Unfortunately Kim didn't look at number plate, so I haven't reported it. Writing this I'm thinking now maybe I should have. I think I'll phone in the morning.
Kim dosent need this at the moment, she suffers from OCD and I'm worried this will make matters worse. She sees her councellor next Tuesday and has promised me she will tell her all about it. She's asked me to take her and pick her up from college tomorrow as she's scared she'll see him again. I've tried to reassure her that as she didn't come home, he has no way of knowing where she lives, and he probably thought it was funny to scare her. I don't know if I convinced her, I certainly didn't convince myself.
So feeling a little p....d right now![]()
As for hair...the words mutton and lamb spring to mind...totally blonde..not streaked as I thought, but hey ho at least Kim is safe.

I just mentioned to Scott about going out and having another look around, but he's told me not to be silly. I've calmed down now, so wouldn't approach anyone, but I'd like to get the van registration. There is so much going on in our small town, no-one seems safe.

Phoned police regarding the van man, but little interest was shown there.
Took Kim to college and met her at lunchtime, she had a coffee with us and did a bit of shopping, she seems ok now. Obviously yesterday she was shocked and upset.
Anyway a little annoyed with CDC again!!!!! She had told me in the week that paperwork had come regarding me becoming a CDC and that she'd bring it tonight. But turns out all she had asked them for was notes for her to be able to advise me on becoming a CDC. So tomorrow she has promised to phone them to get my application pack.

Absolutely the correct thing to do.
I knoe it's not a laughing matter, but if you had been able to confront him in your Nora Batty outfit...might have scared him off doing it again.
More seriously Please report it to police...he may have a pattern of doing it.
Poor daughter..hope she can feel calmer & more settled over next few days.Do encourage her to travel independantly soon before she loses all confidence."back onthe horse after a fall" thing.
I was frantic to find this man, not sure what I'd have done if I had.
Hmm I rather think I DO know what I would have done.

Yes! That is a v important message to get over to her.

Exactly, Hair can be re-done.

Disappointing.Would thay have reacted with more interested if she'd been undr 16 do you think?
On the other hand maybe you can take it as a sign that he is not a repeat offender & was a one-off "prank"

Please give Kim a hug from me.
Tell her that she's safe & that if the sight of you didn't scare him off then I'll come over & deal with him as well.
LOL I think we'd make a great crime fighting team!!
I just hope it dosent have an adverse effect on the OCD, she's been going for counselling for the past 2 months and seems to have improved slightly. The whole problem is she carries out rituals which are mainly just done in the home, she feels she has to do these things so 'nothing bad happens', which in her mind is becoming ill, rowing with bf etc. Obviously this incident is classed as 'a bad thing'. My concern is that some things she has stopped doing, she may start up again.
Sorry about CDC being a it disorganised.give her time, then if she doen't get going can you by-pass her & take up one of the offers from here?
Hey Hey all, have been back to debenhams today to change my summer dress hubby bought me for a smaller size, he insisted that I try it on first - A SIZE 14!!! and it zipped up and pulled me in, he he he, will get him to take a photo and I will have to post when I am back in work on Tuesday... but me in a size 14!! Hasn't stopped me slightly picking today... only a little bit of chicken but it has to stop! (can't quite understand why my pant size is still an 18 though! but I am sure it will catch up!Love
I can see your concern about Kim's OCD being set off again by this incident.
I assume you've told her therapist all about van-man?
I don't go to the therapist meetings with Kim, but I do have an appointment with the main consultant with her on the 8th May, to discuss her progress. They're talking about medication now. However Kim has said that she will tell them all about it, she has an appointment on Tuesday.
poor girl.
Kim's been a lot better today and walked by herself to a friends house, which is a fair distance to us, so things are improving.
The actual OCD dosent really affect her everyday life, she goes to college, is extremely social, and in general is a very bright bubbly girl. You can imagine how shocked I was when they diagnosed it. I was extremely unaware about OCD and in my ignorance thought it would be only introverted people or people who had suffered some sort of trauma, who suffered from this condition. As yet there seems to be no trigger for it starting, so we are still a little bemused as to why she has it. I did put a post on here about OCD, which gave me a lot more insight into the problem, and from what I read about other peoples experiences there possibly dosent need to be a reason at all. This made me feel a lot better, as a mother I think we tend to blame ourselves for things, so I kept thinking maybe I've been too strict or something. I think this is human nature though, afterall we bring our children up, so really we help to make them the people they are.
Re CDC; Being disorganised is OK up to a point but giving out misleading or incorrect info is confusing at best.potentially dangerous at worst.
Lucky you got on here.
Do you know if any of her other clients have the same concerns?
mmmmm this is a big concern to me. Part of me thinks leave her and go with another CDC. Have got to be honest though, I would feel a little bad doing that, don't ask me why, I think I have a problem with guilt. And part of me feels I should report her, for her lack of knowledge, she's been a CDC 18yrs, but I don't think she's had any refresher training, maybe that's needed.
Then the coward part of me says stay with her and keep quiet for peace sake. Then am I putting others in danger![]()
I don't know any of her other clients, only the girls from work who started last week (lol one of them has dropped out already), and to be quite honest they have been phoning me with questions!
Ps love the idea of us as a crime fighting duo.Move over Cagney & Lacey.
