I doubt it, I remember seeing a science show on tv ages ago where a woman who claimed to have a slow metabolism was tested extensively and it turned out she didn't and there were other conclusions drawn about how it's almost impossible to change your base metabolism.
KD _ I just love your posts as you are so wise!
Thank you so much for your input - I appreciate your comments xx
What about exercise? What impact does that have I wonder.
I know muscle weighs more than fat
but I reckon it earns its keep because it burns more fat at rest, surely by speeding up your metabolism?
I did an 8 mile hike on the South Downs yesterday. It will be interesting to see if it has an impact on my WI, as I always seem to lose 3lbs.
Hi,
A little off topic but sort of related to some of the replies above....
An unpleasant (jealous?) colleague at work asked me why I'd moved my wedding ring to my middle finger. I told her it was because it kept falling off my ring finger due to weight loss. I added i will get it adjusted in future when I'm at my goal.
Her reply was: "Oh no, don't! I really wouldn't do that, when you put all the weight back on, your wedding ring won't fit you any more".
Nice.
I laughed and told her I wasn't planning to put any of it back on. "Oh you will, trust me. I know ALL ABOUT very low calorie diets", she said.
This from someone who is more overweight than me and has never done a VLCD!

Well, not exactly. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, but muscle is denser and takes up less room
