Me too, we should rename it 'the support workers ranting group' lol

Lol there are lots of us on here! I love my job though because I'm pregnant I'm not alloud in some houses for health and safety but I really miss the service users :( x x x

I always think it's important to remember that even if someone is getting thousands in benefits to cover their rent, council tax etc etc, the amount they actually get in cash to pay all their bills, buy food and clothes and all the necessaries, is still only going to be the income support/JSA allowance - which if I remember right is only about £65 a week.

I, personally, would find it really, really hard to survive on that.

Aaaaaand.... DYJHIW your to-do list at work is longer at the end of the day than when you started it! Arrrrrgh!

Aww, congratulations - I'm well jealous! How far gone are you?
I'm only doing support work part time now as I'm in Uni doing learning disabilities nursing :) xxx

Me too! In fact I tried before I got married and was a scrounger single parent mum, I found it incredibly hard, thank goodness for Charity shops and food parcels from my friend.
Going to the laundrette was something I had to save for! I handwashed what I could but it's impossible to dry stuff that hasn't been spun in winter.

Aww that's fab, how is your course? I was supposed to be starting the midwifery course in September but have had to defer entry for a year now lol.

How exciting! I bet you'll hardly sleep tonight! Please post a Pic of the flump if you can :) I'm baby mad at the minute! I'm not sure if I could be a midwife though - I did a weeks placement in a labour ward in my first year & fainted! I am obsessed with one born every minute though! Which Uni will you be going to? xx

My Dad's been saying for years that I should be a nurse but I thought it was nonsense lol. It may have taken me until I was 25 to realise, but he was right :) Coincidently I went to see him tonight as he's a little poorly. I was giving him a head massage in bed to try to get him to sleep & he said 'I told you you'd make a great nurse'. It almost made me cry!

I got another one...

DYJHIW

you go to the dole to sign on, the only way to get an affordable gym pass, only to be told that you are earning £1 too much to get JSA- even though you're on £60 a week- not exactly earning a mint ffs.

Then to be told that if you were 25 you would be entitled to JSA (I'm 15 months too young)

Because, totally, the cost of living does go up once you turn 25- NOT.

I really give up. I looked at the free classes on the NHS- the only one I can do, that is still running, is the c 2 5k, but they're oversubscribed.

I *could* get a gym pass off them- but I'm apparently in the wrong postcode....effers :(

I totally have to agree with this!! I was made redundant last August and have been unwell since and I was told I was pretty much entitled to naff all cos I'm only 24 so I have begged, borrowed and stole to try n keep myself afloat until I turn 25 to now be told that they are raising this to 35!!! So from £53 a week I need to pay bills, feed and clothe myself AND pay half my rent....IMPOSSIBLE springs to mind!!! It's surely ageist???
I do get infuriated with it all! A few years back I wanted to move in with my (now ex) partner who is disabled and I was working at the time. I was told that if I moved in with him, he would lose benefits n I would need to keep both of us and pay rent etc. "but" the woman at jobcentre told me "if you were 25 you'd be entitled to help" so I asked for other suggestions...the answer I got left me gobsmacked..."well either quit your job n go on benefits or have a baby n then you'll be entitled to help"!!!!!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!

Omg what is wrong with them?! Mine has the same mentality, he thinks a bit of veg alongside a diet predominantly made up of cheese, sweets, white bread, sausages, pizza and breaded chicken is balanced!!

I just made a big salad for us all for lunch, me and daughters tucked in, he made his into a sandwich with white bread, butter and crisps!!

my hubby works in a supermarket yet he still thinks we have a magic fairy who fills up the cupboards when we're asleep.....

DYJHIW you simply can't wake up! It's been two hours now and I could still go back to bed....oh beeeeeeed! Taken a load of painkillers for my headache, but really it's sleep I need! Roll on 4pm I finish work then it's off to ger petrol, drop a parcel at Dorts, pick up Mums prescription (170 bottles of Fortisips! And other bits), then take it to her flat unload my car run it up the steps to the front door then two flights stairs inside, then to the library to pick up books, then home to make Fajitas, as I've promised my son. I should get to sit down at about 7pm! This is assuming mother doesn't ring me with a list today!
I want to go to bed!!!

Ok pity party over! I have a wonderful life really :)
