He's been on meds (for the first time ever) for the last 9 months and things have been great, his eating has stabilised, he's started the gym and things have been "normal" for want of a better word.
2months ago he started a slow planned reduction in dose. He's due to finish them full stop next week.
But in the last fortnight he's suddenly declined. Binge eating, switching between low mood and just that horrible numb/indifference which in many ways is just worse, lost all interest in friends and the world in general.
Partly its a physical thing, but there is also a psychological aspect as he has been panicking about coming off them for ages.
I've talked him into going back to the doctors, but his usual doctor is away so but worried what the locum will tell him. Clearly he needs to go back on them for a bit, to stabilise things, but from a professional point of view (I work in pharmacy) I know he has to come off them eventually - the longer you're on them the higher the risk of side effects, becoming "resistant" to them, psychologically dependant etc.
It just breaks my heart. I have severe depression too so I totally understand where he is at, but currently I'm in an ok place and unmedicated. It's just so hard with us both in the same boat - constantly balancing who feels "worse" at any one time.
Just before he went on the meds last year he was actively suicidal and the thought of being back there - I was scared every time I went out incase something happened while I was out - it just makes me feel sick.

I would love for him to look into CBT, even self guided stuff, but he did some before we'd met, and he said it did nothing for him - although I think it was more that he was not receptive at the time. In combo with the pills it could be different.
But I will advocate for him, and fight for him, and protect him, because that's my job as his wife x

I have a friend who says similar despite being a tiny size 8 so when she starts I reply with "yes I was going to say I'm surprised you could fit through that door!" usually shuts her up
