Dukanista's Diary: Part III!

I made it through today's challenge! Iron will, I tell you :)

I managed to have a big bowl of shirataki bolognese followed by a yoghurt smoothie before going to the meeting, so I could sit back serenely sipping water as everyone tucked into sandwiches, crisps, fruit and biscuits around me. It helped that I was presenting so didn't have time to eat anyway! And when we did end up at the pub as I expected, I had a soda water. And then raced home to shovel down some turkey slices for dinner! I may even have to have some frozen yoghurt for dessert. Have to sample the raspberry lime batch I made earlier this week :)

I confess I did step on the scale this morning and it's still stuck, but I know it will drop by the weekend. Almost through totm!

All sounding good...; what are these turkey slices you mention? something you buy in a packet? While I love chicken, turkey is something... I eat at Christmas only! haaaa!
Happy weekend
x

Thanks Jo. Scale showed teensy weensy movement down but still slightly above where I was on Sunday, after my attack week. I'll be gutted if its not just totm and those lamb lollipops and salmon curls did the damage!

I did a big ocado shop on Monday - online delivery - and tried out some of the turkey deli meat. Usually just breast slices, but they now have tikka flavored chunks which only have 1.4% carbs so not bad at all, I think. Perfect for ready snacks and to throw in a salad for work on pv days. I love chicken too but turkey is even leaner and so I try and add it in for variety.

Happy weekend to you to! Will you be traipsing around the French countryside? And if not, can I imagine that anyway? :)

And thanks for bringing Christmas to my diary in September!

Thought I'd share a pic of the konjac noodles and rice I've been using. These are all from h&b. There is also a Chinese one that comes in 2 smaller packs and is shaped in knots. I like the size of those - handy to bring into work to mix up with chicken or tuna and cottage cheese. My lunch today, in fact!

Thanks for the encouragement, Sara xxx

Hooray, that's pp done and dusted for the week! Did. Mon, tues, thurs fri pp so now I've got the whole weekend for pv.

Lunch was tofu, shirataki noodles and spicy black bean sauce (yes, not allowed...) - although I have to be careful about cooking my Chinese meals as someone wandered into the kitchen asking if there was a gas leak... :-(

Dinner was salmon and creamy sauce, and a monster yoghurt smoothie.

Happy weekend! Cx

Hmm, scales still moving in wrong direction which is frustrating after 4 pp days this week, and the totm factor should have disappeared by now. But I did have smoked salmon for dinner last night and noticed a gain when I did that last week, so hopefully just temporary water retention from the extra salt (and the sneaky black bean sauce for lunch!). Another possibility is that I've been overdoing the dairy - I haven't been too strict about the mini babybels and mueller lights, so may need to tighten the reins there. But overall I feel great, clothes feeling better already (I had lots of things taken in last year and some of the trousers have been too tight to wear recently), so I'm not going to get too fixated on the scale alone.

So, the plan for the weekend is LOADS of water-flushing veggies: asparagus, cabbage, tomatoes, cucumber, etc. and being strict on the salt. I also have some lean beef mince and chicken filets in the freezer and will do another cooking session for next week's lunch: maybe s 'n p chicken and mini beef burgers!

Bit nervous that friends are planning a big night out on Saturday, but no one is putting a gun to my head and telling me to drink!

Looks like the rain has stopped so me and OH are planning a nice cycle followed by a 'bird walk' in the park Cxx

Just popping by to subscribe to your diary too dukanista. Smoked salmon has the same effect on me but I love it, so I just try and stay calm about any gain I see on the scales the following day, which is not always easy.

Have a great weekend, and drinking water to flush the salt out is a plan xxx

Thanks Sid and Katie, I will follow your advice. I haven't been drinking enough (water!) during the week and I'm also waiting for the whooosh fairy to swing by :) I also need to try and get my water intake in much earlier in the day, so I don't have to get up so much during the night! Still not sleeping so well, and the more often I get up, the more likely I am to wander past the fridge for a snack!

Lovely cycle and 4km walk in the park today, and now I am tucking into veggie sticks (red pepper, celery and cucumber) with smoked mackerel pâté. Unfortunately the mackerel is probably salty too, but sooooooo good!

Oh dear... We had guests around and it turned into a limited damage gala dinner. They brought dessert and it would have been rude to refuse to eat any, so I had a small piece of chocolate cake and scoop of ice cream. And some alcohol, which I'm paying for with a big headache today. But not too bad, really: One vodka lime soda, a bit of wine (I had a few sips but mostly drank from my water glass), and some amarula liqueur with dessert. Dinner itself was ok: OH repeated the yummy fish dish from last week with creamy spinach and onions and steamed green beans on the side.

Anyway, I'll be good today and see what the overall impact is tomorrow morning, but on the whole I do want to have a life and I think it's better to be strict during the week and have a bit of freedom on the weekends for this kind of thing.

Happy Sunday all Cxxx

I think his head is stuck to the door :(

Well, the bad news is that I'm up slightly from last Monday, at 56.7.

The good news is that it's still an overall loss of 1kg, and definitely feels like more. So the plan for this week:
- follow my exercise plan
- change official WI day to Friday
- complete 4 pp days during the week
- keep an eye on salt and dairy
- drink more water

Sunday was a lovely day, mostly staying in bed with a book. I had spicy tuna and tofu for lunch, and then made beef burgers for the week ahead. OH cooked a roast pork loin for dinner with plenty of salt and crackling. I cut the fatty bits off and did not eat the crackling, but it definitely wasn't an approved dukan meal! Delicious, though.

Back to work now and I hope everyone survived the weekend's temptations.

Thanks Sid. It's hard, but I think I'm close to finding that balance. Hope you had a nice weekend cxx

I did, had a lovely weekend and like you playing with getting the balance between dieting/stab and having the freedom of little extras. xxx
