Egg grapefruit diet? Mayo Clinic Diet

I'm afraid that diet, along with many others, are internet urban myths and have absolutely nothing to do with the Mayo Clinic.

Eat under a certain amount of calories of anything, and you will lose weight. There's no magic there. The fact that the substance du jour is eggs and grapefruit (as opposed to cabbage soup, in my day) means very little, I'm afraid. In fact, do this for any length of time and you will be fundamentally missing out on a number of vitamins and minerals. But TBH, it would be a miracle if anyone lasts that long.

The Mayo Clinic's actual dietary recommendations are reproduced here:- http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/weight-loss/MY00432
