Erm's Photo Diary

Hi :) Your roasted kale, is this like the crispy seaweed recipe?? I tried this but it didn't work well, any tips please? x

The way I do it is 1/2 tbsp of olive oil to half a bag of kale (approx 100g) spread out onto a baking tray and massage the oil into the leaves, coating them all well. It's important to SPREAD the leaves out so that they can dry. If you put them in a heap then it won't work. Also don't try to do too much at once. I do a full bag but use two baking trays even though they would fit on one so that it works. I hate it with frylight it doesn't taste the same at all imo. As you are following SW you could use half a HEX-B or one if you do a full bag, it does reduce down and you get two bowls from one bag. Sprinkle with salt, preferably sea salt or even better (and what I use) is pink Himalayan salt but go easy if using sea salt as it can turn out very salty. Put in a preheated oven at 180 (or equivalent) for 13 minutes. After then mix it up with your hand, put back in for another 3 minutes. Check again, if done cool, if not another 3 mins tops or it will burn. It's much nicer in a dehydrator but kale is so high in nutrients there should be plenty left this way. Nutritional Yeast is lovely on the top too which has all the B vitamins and zinc in. I have it most days, reduced from having it every day ;) HTH! :)

Ooh, thanks Vegan*4*Life :)

This pasta looks delicious!!!

You are welcome, just had a thought obviously individual ovens are different so just in case yours runs hotter than mine does check it at ten mins! :D

Yeah my oven is a bit nuts, deffo agree with what V4L says though, spread the kale out or put it in 2 trays, uyou want it brown & crispy but not raw and not burnt, its rubbish if its still raw underneath :( Mine takes 10-12 min but my oven is a bit of a furnace, I do one bag in 2 batches.

Mmmm tell me more about nutritional yeast Vegan4life? (its so weird not having real names for people! :D ) I've stopped eating much Marmite so Im wondering if I should try this instead? Sounds yummy, what brands do you recommend? Ive had a bit of a google but most of the stuff Im reading is American. I dont go down the high street much, we dont have many health stores round here so online would be good, but I can make a special trip if its worth it.

Mmm pink Himalayan salt Ive seen a few people recommending that, I might have a wizzle about for that too, I use Maldon at the minute. I see a Big Shop coming on, anything else you can recoemmend before I go? :D

just popping in Erm - not been here for a whle, but congrats on your excellent weight loss and lovely food pics as always! *drool*
