Excuses For Eating/Taking A Break Etc ...

♥3 Years Maintaining♥
Here I go again with another thread that will probably cause some agro/heated debates ... just wondering;

Whats all of yous 'excuses' for having a day/week off LT?

I just cant seem to get my head around some reasons. Ok for a holiday that has already been booked - fair point but other reasons ....:hmm:

Maybe this will turn into an inspiration thread to stop you taking just one day off etc cuz really, you dont need to but thats my personal opinion .... so: yap away!

I had mine when I went away for a long weekend to celebrate my Brothers Ruby Wedding Anniversary. Its the first time me and my 2 Sisters and Brother had all been together since 1998. No way would I have sat there having a shake and numberous glasses of water, over a long weekend when there was much celebration to be had. Taking breaks are ok as long as they are done properly by re-feeding. Ok I had a stay the same after 2 weeks, so it took me 2 weeks longer to get to my target for maintenance, but I would not have changed it for the world.

I had a wonderful 2 weeks off lipotrim, ate, drank, socialised and straight back onto it on my return.

for me it seems to be my monthly time!!!other weeks im fine lose great amounts but the week be4 just cant keep on track does anyone else feel like this or is it just me arghhhhhh

Only excuse I would have to offer would probably be because of something medical. If I was ill and had to stop LT, then maybe I'd take a break. Other than that, no excuses for moi :)

Ok guys. Glad you had a good time though kred - i guess something like that you kinda do feel like you need too although Im afraid i am with yasmine on this one lol :)

Well when I did this the first time for 8 weeks I never let a thing pass my lips that shouldn't and same this time. But now when I see signatures of people doing TFR for 10 weeks, 15 weeks, 20 weeks and more, well those people I would forgive eating a chicken salad at a wedding once or twice. I mean it is for such a long time.

But I agree with you summergurl. I don't understand people on it 10 days and planning a meal out???? But I don't mean to be judgemental....if it works for them, then who am I to critisise? But I just think they are making life harder for themselves. But I suppose it is better to be one of those people rather than continually saying I'll start lipo next, then next week, then next week, constantly waiting for functions to be out of the way before starting.

For me....sooner you start the sooner you finish. The better behaved you are the less time you will be on it.

I was thinking of coming of it for this moonwalk thing I'm doing, only because I was concerned that doing a 13 mile walk on a VLCD might not be such a good idea. But I've decided to build my walking stamina up between now and then and stick with the VLCD and just go for it.

I did 3.5miles this afternoon, yay me!!!! :party0049:......... bit knackered now though;)

I must say that when I decided to start this diet I made a pledge never to cheat or have a break, instead I gave myself a goal of 11 weeks to do the plan which would give me 1 week left to refeed before my holiday. I ve stuck to it 100 percent and unless you are ill I think you should really try to stick to it.
I know some people are on LT for longer than 11 weeks and that must be harder but as long as we all try our best and give lots of support I am sure we'll all make it slim!!!!!!xxxxxx

I know I'm going to be eating on 2nd May. However it's a meal that was planned way back at the beginning of Feb for my MIL and I intend to enjoy it as it's a place that's hard to get a table.

If I am still doing LT - which will be about 10 weeks at that time, then I am planning on eating that night then straight back on it the next day. I know I should do a refeed but am not going to. I also know I may struggle afterwards but will know when I get there.

Lou i'm the same but im doing the 26 miles so am definately having food in me for that! Don't want to be collapsing on the route!

Also having a day off for a hen night but by then i'll have been on the diet for 3 months, it's my brothers fiancees hen night and i'm a bridesmaid at the wedding so i'm def having a drink and I know it's not safe to do that without food.

Yup - if you eat you are only holding yourself back!

Be careful though - if you are drinking you should refeed for atleast a week before having alcohol! :)

I thought about starting LT last September but with my hubby's birthday due and xmas thought I'd wait til January and start fresh then. I personally wont be coming off this unless I am ill or am advised to by a professional but to make excuses for one night out isn't for me. Everyone has their own views on this and I personally don't think I could get back on it after eating proper food again.

I'm not knocking anyone that takes a break cos it's nothing to do with me but I am so determined to stick to this, I wont be breaking it. Seeing the results you get is so inspiring and really spurs me on.

yup yup yup! my train of thought exactly!
hey! how an earth did you manage 8lbs in week 12? bloody brilliant! did you do anything different?

Nope, didn't do anything different. Don't know what happened but I know it wont be happening again soon. Really glad I had 8lb loss though, really encouraging. I'd be happy with 3lbs a week now.

How are things with you? Are you back on the water OK after your trip to London?

Yeah i seem to be ok now. Still not quite at 4.5lt a day but im putting it down to having a non routine week lol. Managing about 3.5 today and back at work tomo so should be back to 4.5 :)

I bet your loss was encouraging - bet you was dead chuffed!! hehe xx

Yeah really chuffed! I have been trying to get more water in me the last couple of weeks, I'm managing about 4 lts now and feel great for it. Perhaps that's what accounts for the 8lbs loss!

could be mini could be! :) whatever it was - fantastic! :) hehe

I remeber a while ago you posted a thread similar to this.....and I just dont get why.

I have been on LT, this being my 3rd time, I lost 5 1/2 stonne in the first stint of 9 weeks and 3 stonne in 4 weeks last time, now I have been back on it a week.

Its great that some people can stay on LT for months and months and months, its sad that some people cannot stay on it for even the first week.

I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but by 'having excuses' and 'taking breaks' it makes it sound like you are calling us who do this weak!!

I came off it the first time as it was my baby brothers 18th party and close to Christmas, I decided that as he was the baby of our family and I wanted to have a drink and have some fun. As for Christmas, its Christmas a family time, that food is a major part of, Christmas occurs once a year, I decided that I had all year to diet. In saying that I ate healthy and when I rejoined LT in Feburary I had not put on that much weight! I stayed of LT until Feburary as we had a few family functions.

I came off it after the second time for 4 weeks, because I struggled on it severely. Plus may I also add first and second time on LT I have taken a rash on my neck that neither feels great nor looks great, which made me feel very low, ontop of how else I was feeling.

I am now back on LT and will be until May 8th. I will be coming off it as its a time of year where my OH (who is also on LT) has his yearly boys weekend away and its my birthday. Now I believe you will understand him wanting to be off it for his boys weekend, but yet may question why my birthday?? Well I unlike the queen only have one birthday a year, and on birthdays we go out as a family for a meal and then on out for a nights fun and craic!

I have a hell of a lot of weight to loose, and I will get there, slow and steady!

Just another point, if you are obese, its more than likely that you have an 'eating disorder' and being on LT helps you loose the weight, it doesnt help the mindset problem. Having breaks in between and training yourself slowly on your eating patterns and teaching yourself new ways of eating helps with this.

In our home LT costs the two of us £102 per week, we are happy to pay this, but this is our money and if we chose to have a break then I dont see why we should have to justify this, I understand that I didnt have to reply to this thread, but chose to, but I thought I would include this!

We let our hair down by having a meal with friends and family, trips to the beach, weekends away, having a drink, having a dance, shopping, and while on LT its not as much fun doing this. We work too hard not to let our hair down!

No offence is intended to anyone, but this whole topic irks me!!

Laura

You've got some good points there laura but this diet isnt intended to be stopped and started cuz of a meal or whatever. Its intended to lose weight and also, like you said help battle our eating problems.

Which is why for me i just dont get why some people chose to come off for a meal/one day when clearly this isnt meant to happen. Surely youd want this diet over with so you can carry on and eat and will have changed your train of thought on food?

To me, taking a day off is pointless and defeats the object of the point.

I am not criticising anyone nor am i calling those who do have a day off etc weak im merely just interested into reasons why as this topic irks me!!!
