Exercise...Help please....

Hi sorry to butt in - I was going to suggest Yoga - I use the yoga2hear cds that were featured in the slimming world magazine a few issues ago. You can get cds or mp3's over the internet from their site and they cater for beginers. I use their classes cause I can do them whenever I can fit them in rather than having to make it to the gym at a specific time.

Swimming is good. I do weight training at home. I use dumbbells and do biceps, triceps, chest and abs (can't use lower body). I started out with a couple of baked bean tins, doing curls infront of the telly :)

Sounds like it's coming from your back, that's typical referred pain. Can you refer yourself to a physio department in your area? Most have self referral systems now, or your GP could refer you.

Stretching

Hi, I suffer from back pain, sciatica and runner's knee (!) and the best advice I ever got was from a physiotherapist who told me to stretch out my hamstrings at least 3 times a day particularly after ANY exercise (even just a bit of walking). Honestly, this has revolutionised my life!!! There are more stretches for buttocks and hips available from any good NHS physio.. Ask them when you go. Also, I stick with freestyle leg kick as breaststroke leg kick makes the sciatica worse and always take a woggle float with me when my daughter & I go swimming so I can rest my arms and just use my legs.

Hope you are feeling better soon.:)

I've been to see my dr a few times and i've got to have an ultrasound scan on tuesday so hopefully they will be able to help after that. I think my dr has also booked me in to see an orthopedic specialist too.
Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. You've all been wonderful and given me some good ideas xx

I've got them all over my thighs. I've got a tankini thing - shorts and a vest. I guess im just very self concious. I'll half to drag my fiance along with me for support lol xx

How about putting some fake tan on the first couple of times? we all tend to look slimmer tanned and it will cover the stretch marks!

Might just make you feel a bit more confident about going in the water.

I have ME and cant walk far or exercise but I was told the best thing I could do is to walk in the swimming pool. I go to one which is one level (and short) and tend to swim a couple of lengths and walk a few too. I find I can feel it on my calves but my hips dont hurt too much where as if Im walking I get hip pain.

I am the palest person ever lol. I've never tanned in my life. Not even fake tan. It looks unnatural. I like my paleness though. I think im getting over the stretchmark thing a bit though cus everyone has them, not just me x
